He was mostly potty trained at that point, just needed reminders. Most of his classmates were not, but by the end of the year (they had all turned 3) all of them were! They said the kids did not need to be potty trained. It was supposed to be half day the first day but she did well so we kept her there until 2:30 pm. She was potty trained before starting and the school helped assist with any follow up. I would help pull down pants and the teacher worked on increasing independence. Those fine motor skills are tough. She had a little relapse with a few accidents in one week so we were asked to put her in pull ups for a week until she demonstrated a consistency again. My advice would be to schedule an activity out of the house, mid morning everyday except Friday (we are out of town often or we just go to the playground or a museum or meet friends for lunch). At that age we did swimming, art class, story time at the library and gym/trampoline. Even just child watch at the gym is a good enough activity too! The school we chose says the child must be independently using the potty which is freaking me out bc my LO is 2.5 and while she's potty trained I help her use the potty - I go with her and help pull off her pants and set her on the potty and wipe, etc. So this summer we are working on her pulling down her pants and getting up on the potty herself. It is kind of stressing me out. I took my son out of daycare and was so stressed that he would be bored, but between activities and just have extra attention, he has thrived! I know there is a ton of development between 2 and 3, but I think the extra reading, puzzles, cooking and just conversation has had an amazing impact on him. She's ready. 2.5 seems early to require potty training. LO really started taking interest at about 28 months in the potty and at almost 3 we still have accidents occassionally. She's still in a state of having to be reminded to use the bathroom occassionally.
