@jholler25: yaaaay! You don't have to go:) I was getting worried for you because even if your doctor said yes, it would still be a sucky trip. Luggage and belly...and swelling...and sweating...hecks no...

Might want to check with the airline too - some have restrictions on when you can fly because they don't want the liability of having to deliver a baby on a plane or make an emergency landing.

I had my LO at 34 weeks, so I personally wouldn't feel comfortable traveling. I wasn't high risk and didn't have any limitations set by my doctor my LO arrival was highly unexpected and I'm so glad I was at home. Funny enough, DH was set to leave for NC for a wedding the day after my water broke. I have no idea what I would have done if he would have been away. But like other people say, you have to do what you are comfortable with, that may or may not be traveling.

My doctor has no restrictions on travel. He basically words it as "You can travel as late in the pregnancy as you want. But the later you go, the more you risk delivering your baby somewhere else besides where you live and by a doctor you don't know". I'd be more worried about the airlines policies. They usually have cutoff dates.

I, selfishly, want you to come to hang out with me in Dallas, though! Maybe after the babies are born, LOL.

Wow, through some miraculous occurrence, the nurse actually called me back about something I left her a message about LAST week, and I was able to ask about flying. She told me no flying in the third trimester period... Whoop! Whoop! I'm grounded!

It might be wise to fly with a note from the doctor. airlines can reject you if they think you're lying about how far along you are/look too big. I always thought 30 weeks was the cut off. At 34 weeks, it might be safe to have a dr's note. I'll be traveling to mexico at 27 weeks

My doctor had a cut off at week 36. We had a trip planned that put us flying back home at 36 weeks but she said it was up to us and that the airline could prevent me from boarding if they weren't comfortable with me. She said even if she wrote a note that it was okay, they would ignore her note if they wanted to. We ended up canceling just to be safe.

@hilsy85: I am thinking that's what I'm going to do regardless. I am soooo lazy now at 28 weeks, I cannot imagine how unmotivated I will be at 34 weeks to study and go through the stress/anxiety of being tested. So pretty much whatever the date they give is, I'm going to ask my doctor if that can be the date that I can't fly anymore:) I kind of feel guilty because they tried to get me to do this in the first trimester when I was coming off of bedrest/STD for a Subchorionic hemmorhage and I didn't feel like doing it then when I wasn't even super sure my pregnancy was totally healthy, and I got a "no flying in the first tri" note that I think my boss was not really happy about. She didn't understand why I could be cleared to come back to work from STD, but not be able to fly. So I don't know how well this is going to go over, but whatevs. I certainly don't want to be in Dallas or Atlanta going into labor because I'm all stressed the hell out and exhausted!

I was told 34 weeks I think. And either way, I'm sure your doctor would give you a note if you told her that you didn't feel comfortable flying that late and needed to give something to your job as justification.

I was told 32 weeks. Turns out I ended up have some pre term contractions at 26 weeks and was told no travelling from that point on (the flying isn't a risk in and of itself.. but doc didn't want me to have bleeding or contractions in the air and not have access to care immediately). It sucked because I had to cancel my shower at home that was planned for 29 weeks but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep baby safe. So even if your doctor says 36 weeks, I would just be open with your work that there's always a possibility that when the time comes you may not be able to go through with the trip.

I am waiting for the dates on a super intense work training/testing thing that I'll have to fly to either Dallas or Atlanta for...I DREAD having to prep for and attend it. I am secretly hoping that the final dates they decide on will exclude me because I'll be too far along. They are saying late October, or early November. I'll be 34 weeks on Oct 26.

I've read different people saying their doctor had them stop flying at 34 or 36 weeks...I don't have my next prenatal appt until the end of the month, and if I call to ask something random like that, they won't call me back (a shame, I know, but I've only gotten calls back for extremely urgent stuff).

When did your dr say you couldn't fly anymore?
