LO is 20 months and has never slept through. Some kids take a lot longer to sleep without wake ups. DS usually wakes up, fusses, sometimes has a drink or some milk, and then goes back to sleep, it's rare that he needs more than a minute or two of my attention. Still tiring though so I hope you have better luck!

Thanks everyone. Random people are asking if he's sleeping through the night yet and I just want to kick them!! I'm not opposed to some sleep training down the road, but he's way too young right now. Blah

Our EBF daughter started to STTN on her own with no sleep training at 11 weeks and did so consistently for 6 weeks until we went on vacation - the jet lag plus 4 month sleep regression/rolling over and having to swaddle wean killed it. We were at 2-3 night wakeups for a while after that, then some mild sleep training at 6 months to get down to 0-2 wakeups (wait 5 min to try to let her settle herself, and try not to nurse to sleep). Now at 8 months she might go back to it - we had a couple of STTN and consistent one wakeup nights the past week.

@lawbee11: Yeah, she had a vomiting episode last night that clearly threw everything off, but 4 out of the last 6 nights, she STTN. It. Is. Amazing. Life changing. I hope M is right behind-- they usually are right on track with each other :)

Both LOs stopped waking up at night by eight weeks...8-10 hour stretches. LO 1 nursed and drank pumped milk. LO 2 did not take a bottle consistently until she was 18 weeks old.

@MCD919: first time she slept from bedtime to morning, about 11.5 hours, was at 10 months.
We got occasional 5 hour stretches before that. She was a crappy sleeper though.

@MCD919: sounds totally normal to me. DD is almost 18 weeks and sleeps 5-7 hours, wakes up for a quick diaper change and feeding and goes back to sleep for another 2-3 and then if she wakes up again I bring her into bed with me if it's still pretty early.

@MCD919: I EP, but it's still bm and my 8 month old does not sleep through the night. However, when she's not sick she typically sleeps 7:30 or 8 pm until 1-2 am, then again until 5-6 am, then again until 7:30 when she is up for the day.

My husband and I both wake up by 6 for work, so that's only 1 wakeup in our night and 2 wakeups in her night.

Baby sleep is hard!

DD only STTN after sleep training. We first trained at 6.5 mo and she STTN for one glorious week, but then we went on vacation... Then she got a cold... And so on. We re-trained at 9.5 mo and she STTN until we weaned, when she started randomly waking up at 5:30/6:00 to eat. So we re-trained again. Sigh.

Fwiw, when I say STTN, I mean bedtime to up for the day - for DD, that is 7:30-7:00-ish.

i think the answer will be all over the map, and what you're going through sounds pretty normal (unfortunately). one thing i tried around that point was waiting about 5-10 minutes to see if LO would settle down by himself. sometimes he did, sometimes he didn't, so i'm not sure if it made a big difference, but he started sleeping 9.5 hour stretches around 4 or 5 months. we were then plagued by 4 or 5am wakeups for a loooooooooong time.

That sounds normal - they might stretch out after 12 weeks and they might not - haha - hard to say really.

My kids slept good from time to time but neither STTN until after they turned 1

LO is 19 months old and still not STTN... I would suggest NOT bf to put back to sleep/soothe when he's a little bit older. I think that was our problem and she STILL wants to be nursed at each wakeup. So tired.

LO is eight weeks and typically sleeps an initial 3.5-4 hour stretch at night, followed by wake-ups every 2-3 hours. His bedtime has been around 9, and he's usually up for the day 6:30-7ish. Any of this sound normal?? Wondering when these stretches of sleep will lengthen.... This is one sleepy mama!!
