I didn't want him leaving me to update anyone. Mom was afraid my labor would be super short like hers. So they were in the waiting room all night long. By the time R came, the ILs and my sister were there. My mom was in the waiting room and my dad had gone to his car in the parking garage to take a nap. I love that story. :) They came in after I was cleaned up but before I went to my recovery room. My good friend came not long after I got to recovery since she was pregnant with twins and had spent the last 2 nights in the hospital on bed rest. She got wheeled in to see us. We called all of our parents and siblings to let them know we were in for the real deal (I was only 37 weeks, surprise). DS arrived at 10:30am that morning. I didn't know until after he came but we had my mom, mil and her husband, fil and his wife and siblings all waiting. </p> <p>My hospital had a 1 hour waiting period after LO arrived to allow anyone in the room max 4 people at a time. Since I didn't get an epi was showered before anyone came in at 12:00. Turns out the babies has been born and they were being wheeled to the nursery with my husband when our parents walked into the L&amp;D area. They got to watch through the glass while the babies were being bathed and checked out. I didn't get to see the babies for a couple hours (they were fine but I wasn't) so I was sort of upset that the grandparents got to see them before I did. I was really worried that there would be too many people there too soon after birth. ( Dh and I both have lots of family in town. ) I went into labour 2.5 weeks early and it just happened that almost everyone was out of town. My sister was the first to come about 4 hours after delivery. My mom came as soon as she got into town with my other sister about 5 hours after delivery. It worked out really well. Both sets of parents knew we were heading to the hospital because it was Mother's Day and we had to cancel plans with them because of it. They were all specifically told NOT to come until we called them, and promised to call and let them know once/if we had been admitted. When I got there I wasn't quite dilated enough to be admitted and they told me to walk around for awhile. A half an hour later my ILs started blowing up our phones, DH texted that I wasn't admitted and again, he would call once I was. They called 15 minutes alter to say they were on their way, and I made them drive their asses back home. I was basically walking around the lobby in tons of pain and had made it crystal clear I did not want company.</p> <p>After LO was born (and I was in labor for over 24 hours, so joke was on my ILs for trying to show up early to not miss anything) by emergency c-section, we let visitors into the recovery room two at a time, during which point my MIL started taking a bunch of pictures WITH FLASH less than a foot away from my newborn's face even when I told her to stop.</p> <p>Obviously, next time will go differently based on what I now know about who can and can't respect our decisions/requests. </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/when-did-your-first-visitors-arrive-at-the-hospital#post-1626732 Sat, 10 May 2014 18:08:04 +0000 Espion 1626732@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>Nobody! We lived out of state and no family was closer than a plane ride. I didn't even tell family we were being induced until it was well under way. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Bil came after work. My parents stayed over that night in iur apt and came back to the hospital the next day and that was it! I didn't want a lot of people there so it was really nice just having family time with the three of us. </p>
