I started stocking the bottom drawer of the fridge with yogurt and apple sauce for DD1 so I can send her there to eat her own up of yogurt if she wakes up too early. It was right after DD2 was born so maybe 2y10m?

My 7 yr old started using the toaster oven by herself this year to heat frozen waffles. before that she would get cereal, fruit, etc by herself for her and my DS. I'm teaching her how to use the microwave as well.

I was just talking to my brother about this. His 4.5 yo does this now if he wakes up before everyone else. My 2.5 yo no way.

My 2.5 year old can get out cut fruit and a single serving yogurt, (and remove the top). We keep her dishes in a bottom drawer so she can get a bowl or a spoon or whatever she needs. I do supervise her doing this for now because she likes to explore the fridge. Maybe in a few months to a year I could see her getting her own breakfast.

My kids are 4 and 6 and they regularly put cereal into a bowl and pour milk over it. It's nice because if no one is around to make them breakfast, they just have cereal and we can sleep in a bit more. Of course though, it goes without saying that they put in more milk and cereal than they need into the bowl! Working on that part...

I was probably around the same age when I started making myself a bowl of cereal...
