We had LO evaluated at 17 months, she was behind only in expressive. ( she only had 2 words I think) We have been in EI for speech therapy since then, she is now 26 months. She has made progress and I feel like soon we will see a big improvement but right now she is still behind. It has helped tremendously though in that now she can communicate with us. She has a couple dozen signs now and I think close to that many verbal words now too.

I'm wondering this as well.... DS is 14 months and says this, that, mama, dada, but not really in a functional way. His receptive language seems on target, and he can point to many correct items when we ask 'Where's the kitty?" etc. He can also follow one-step directions. But we're just waiting for the actual words at this point......

E was probably around the same at 21 months. By 2 she started stringing together 2-3 word sentences. From 2-2.5 she was hard to understand though. She's 3 months shy of 3 years now and she does not stop talking lol and I think she speaks pretty clearly.

We had 12ish words at our eval right after DS turned 2. He's been in therapy for 1 hr every week and has definitely added more words over the past 2.5 months. He is imitating really well and has picked up some signs really quickly to help him express his needs. We expect him to start stringing words together pretty soon, our SLP told us around 40-50 words is usually when they start combining. Can't wait for his speech to really take off!

I had LO evaluated at 18 months. He tested at 9 months for expressive, and on-target for receptive. She didn't recommend therapy at the time, and just gave us suggestions and said to call back in a couple months. At 18 months, he sort-of had 3 words. He started talking around 22/23 months (though he'd made progress in the meantime), and now at 28 months is average for his age.

ETA: I should add that he had over 60 signs, so there was expressive language there, just not verbally. That's one of the reasons she didn't recommend therapy.

We had an eval with EI at 19 months - she had 9 words. They felt that she was doing all the right things ans said she would progress in time

By 24 months she was talking more and by 2.5 I saw a big change

We had C evaluated by EI last week and he tested at a 12 month level (he's 21 months) for expressive language - he was advanced for all other areas. He only has a few words/sounds (mama, no, Marlowe, moo, choo choo, what's this, and oh no) he uses on a regular basis but yesterday said raisin and shirt out of the blue so I feel like he's making progress, albeit slowly.

We're still going to get him started on therapy asap but I'm wondering if anyone else had had a LO like this and if you pursued therapy or if they caught up eventually on their own time. :)
