We dropped DD's bedtime nursing session around 15 months and she didn't really complain so we got lucky. When we first dropped it I replaced it with extra bedtime books and snuggles so I think that helped the process.

At 13 months I think it is on it's way out. We offer a few oz in a sippy before nap/bed, but most of the time she doesn't really touch it. I do it more for my own peace of mind...I wonder if she'd even notice if we didn't offer!

We took away the bedtime bottle at 18 months but at that point he wasn't drinking much maybe 2-3 oz. he wS previously totally addicted and would cry from jammies until the moment he had the bottle. We offered his straw cup at bed for awhile and sometimes he drank a little and sometimes he didn't. It was surprising that he adapted really well but he did with some extra cuddles and distraction. We stopped offering the straw cup right around 2 and instead offered water and it didn't seem like he missed it.

This actually makes me feel like less of a parenting fail. At 23months, DD still has a bedtime bottle:/

Our goal is to somehow wean her and get her to go to bed on her own, in a big girl bed which we don't even have yet, before LO2 gets here in early May. No idea how we're going to do it!

We swapped the evening bottle of cows milk with water at around 18/19 months and he handled it super well and shortly after that just stopped. He sometimes still had a sippy with water at bedtime, and if it's been a rough day/evening we give in with a bottle of milk for comfort!

Now, the a.m. Bottle of milk is another story... Have to try to quit that now that he's two.

DD1 cut it on her own around 15 months. DD2 still likes milk before bed and she is almost 2! Why do you need to brush again? I give her some milk while I read bedtime stories and then brush her teeth afterwards. It is just one time...am I missing something?

DD cut it out on her own. I used to nurse her to sleep and then around 10 mos she stopped wanting/needing to nurse. I never offered a bottle in its spot so she doesn't get anything at bedtime. She eats dinner around 5-530 and then goes to bed around 630

With our oldest, gosh, so early I can't remember! With our youngest, around almost 2.5 years old. He still takes a morning sippy right after he wakes up. Otherwise, he won't drink much milk at all during the daytime. I try to add in calcium rich food during the daytime...but it's hard sometimes too! Or have him eat more cheese which he loves.

LO last cup of milk is his first sleep cue not his last. So he first gets his bottle of milk, then straight to the bathroom to change diapers and put on PJs, brush teeth etc. Then of to his room for bedtime story etc. So the time between milk and bed is maybe 10 minutes.

He has a straw cup of milk that we keep around for the hour before he goes to bed, and he takes sips here and there, but it's not essential for his bedtime routine. After weaning around 16-17 months he was much more interested in playing before bed than sitting and drinking his milk.

We weaned the night-night bottle the same time we weaned from formula/bottles... 13ish months. Her last drink is at dinner, which is like 1.5-2 hours before bed time, but she still manages to pee SO MUCH at night. We have to use night time diapers. I don't know what we're going to do when potty training time comes!

She never had a bottle before bed, but I would nurse her. When she weaned at 13.5 months I just never introduced a bottle/sippy cup before bed. We bottle weaned at around the same time, so she gets a sippy cup of milk with dinner and that's it for the night.

@Mrs. Sunshine: was a total non event. It went way more smoothly than I expected! We kept the rest of her bedtime routine the same, except no nursing before bed and no replacement with bottle or sippy cup. She went down normally.

@mrbee: My son is a tiny little thing and feeding is an issue, but once I weaned (18ish months), we dropped a bedtime feed. He does go down within an hour of dinner, though. If he eats poorly, sometimes I let him take a sippy of milk into the bath, but once teeth are brushed, we're done.

She hates cows milk &will sip soy milk but I haven't tried to replace a session with it yet. She loves her sippycup BUT I really don't know if she'll take a replacement at all if it's not in a bottle at least. How did it go for yall? Was it rough?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one to let her daughter go to bed with a bottle! In our house it's 75% water, and no more than 25% apple juice, more often even less.

Our air is so dry here that I feel she needs it, but I'll gladly have her give it up because the rest of the day she drinks from a combo of cups and sippies.

We have never done a bedtime bottle. I stopped the nighttime nursing session at 13 months and didn't offer a bottle in it's place. She's just 15 months but basically she gets her last bottle at 5:30 with dinner and she goes to bed at 7. Now I wonder if I should be giving her more before bed!
