Following this post. I'm worried that my DS will drop his nap early! He went down to 1 nap at 11 months (on his own) and he's 15 months now.

My three year old still firmly needs hers, so I'm eager to see when she'll drop it. I know others her age who already have.

We just went through this and I was afraid DD was trying to drop her nap too. Now a few months later (22 months) we are back to daily naps ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 hours :) We have moved her bedtime to 8pm from 7-7:30 and I moved her nap back from 12:30-1 to 1-2. It isnt an exact science but it is a loose schedule that has kept the nap going. Mama definitely needs nap time!

a lot of kids fight naps at that age then go back to napping so hopefully that's the case! charlie dropped his shortly before he turned 4 and started public pre-k, but he still napped at home for a while.

When this happened to us we pushed his bedtime back a half hour. Started napping again no problem. Momma needs nap time.

Have you tried pushing back his nap time? That's previously a lot of sleep so it seems he wouldn't be dropping his nap yet.

Around 2 my son started refusing a nap one or two days a week but I would take him out in the stroller because he really couldn't handle no nap. That passed after about a month and he went back to napping pretty much every day.

For the past 2 months he has been napping probably 4-5 days a week. He does ok and goes to bed early but his demeanor is much, much better when he naps. He's 30 months.

DD1 dropped hers at 15 months, but that is pretty crazy early.

DD2 started skipping naps around 18 months so your LO might just be doing that. If she's tired, she'll nap. She is 22 months.

@mauxie: He has been experimenting more with words lately so perhaps that's it? I hope you're right!

He's been in his crib now for an hour and ten minutes and I'm going to up and get him. It's hard to get anything done anyways when I'm just listening to him bang around in his crib so I might as well bring him down.

Maybe as he is getting older he is realizing it is more fun to stay up and play?? I know my daughter didn't do great with her naps/night sleep when she had her language explosion. It was like she was learning so much it overwhelmed her system. But after a couple weeks she went back to normal and sleeps maybe 11 hours at night and 2-3 during the day.

She's now a little over 2 and no where near dropping a nap..

I think at daycare most of the 3 year olds still take short naps, but some just play quietly during the mandated rest time.

Hope your little guy goes back to napping consistenly! Momma needs a break mid-day! :)

DS is only just about 18 months and I fear he is already dropping his nap. He has skipped his nap entirely a few times the last few weeks and seems just fine and content to be up. No meltdowns, etc. The past couple of days it has taken at least an hour for him to go down. It's really irritating. Until about a month ago he would sleep 12 hours at night and 3 during the day so I'm not used to him being up so much during the day!

Lately he sleeps from about 7pm - 6:30am with a minimal nap or none at all and I'm wondering if anyone else's child dropped all naps this early. Please tell me it will go back to at least a short nap?!
