It was right around 13 months consistently, now at almost 18 months she picks everything up. She even will respond with the lovely 'No mommy" already when I ask her to do something she doesn't want to do! haha sigh.

Right around 12-13 months consistently! At 16 months, he's a sponge that seems to pick up on commands and unintentional commands too!

I love bossing around my LO to see how much he understands  .

At around 14 months we started giving him 'jobs' to do during our bedtime routine. He'd put his dirty clothes in the hamper and his diaper in the garbage. Now at 2, he gets his plates and cutlery out for mealtimes, cleans up his spills, puts all his toys away, etc. Yesterday my husband asked our LO to go get a hammer and screwdriver and he ran to his playroom and came back with both (and he has a bunch of different play tools!)!

Right around one year she could follow simple commands (bring me a certain toy). By June, when she was 16 months, she could follow really complex directions (put this in trash can, put away something). It's really amazing how much they know! Now at 2, she understands 99% of what I tell her.

It was around 14 months when he started doing it more consistently. We started letting him throw his own diaper away. It's amazing how much they understand and he seems to get so much satisfaction in doing a simple task I ask him to do.

It was maybe around 10-11 months when I realized she could follow commands. She would love to carry around all the clean laundry when I was folding it and I was so frustrated I told her to bring me her red pants that she had carried across the room...and she did it.

I can't remember exactly but she's 20 months now and follows two and three step commands. I remember feeling the same sense of pride the first time she followed a direction, sometime shortly after she turned a year, and it still never ceases to amaze me now!

Her day care teachers always say that she follows directions so much better than her classmates. I would say she was consistent at 13 months. Sometimes I worry that she doesn't have many words, but her receptive language is so amazing that I try not to stress.

Around 9-10 months my LO could find her pig, baby and monkey. From then on she's only gotten better. She can do almost anything I ask her at this point. She always gets her shoes for me in the morning and takes them to the steps to put them on

R is 12 months (on Tuesday) and she does with certain things. If we say let's go change your diaper, she walks back to her room. It's bath time, and she walks back to the bathroom. If we throw the ball and say go get it, most if the time she does.
Then there are plenty of times she doesn't follow commands!

Right around 12 months I told DS not to put his straw cup on the floor and to put it on a little table instead. A few hours later he was off somewhere in the apartment but the cup was on the table. I was totally shocked! He always put it on the table after that.

This started around 15 months with DS for things like throwing away his own trash or picking up toys. He's almost 18 months now and helps me switch laundry to the dryer, hang cloth diapers on the drying rack and put the dishes away from the dishwasher. It's amazing how much he really can do now!

Maybe 14 months things like "point to mama's nose" now at 17 months she loves to pick up pieces of paper to put in the wastebasket or bring me a book if I ask.

Blows my mind too.
