@sorrycharlie: Yeah everytime I think I have LO on a good nap and nighttime schedule, she gets a tooth or gets sick and switches it up on me. Her being able to replace her own pacifier has helped a lot though.

@BelugaBean: glad to hear its around this age though - gives me hope that she'll figure it out sooner! i feel like once she masters that, sleep will be relatively smooth sailing. you know, until the next baby mystery or tooth pops up. :)

@sorrycharlie: True. Our LO kind of figured out the basics of how to get it in around 5-5.5 months, she just wasn't that great at it. She learned on her own though. Like with everything else, it just seemed to click.

@BelugaBean: the thing that makes me feel terrible is that she usually will try (if she can find it). I'll watch her on the video monitor attempting to put it in sideways, the nipple facing out, etc..and she'll try for awhile before bursting into tears. I feel like I can't just leave her there when she can't figure it out :( haha

She learned around 5.5-6 months when we sleep trained. We realized that about half the time she was crying for us to replace her pacifier. She learned how to get it back in her mouth plus we put about three others around the crib so that she always has one easily within her reach.

ohhh myyyy gooooosh.

LO has become really good at putting herself to sleep. she actually won't allow herself to be rocked to sleep anymore (sad). but, she rubs her blanket on her face to self-soothe and knocks the pacifier out. if she can even locate it again in the blanket, she can't ever get the right end in her mouth.

half the time, she'll fall asleep with the pacifier in her mouth. the other half, I have to keep going in to replace the dumb thing til she can get comfy to fall asleep.

she's 6 months next week!
