On his first climb out he ended up in the ER with a concussion and black eye. We transitioned him to his toddler bed at that point. He wears a sleepsack, so that definitely helps. He's been able to get out of his sleepsack a few times and I don't think he's tried climbing out when his legs were free. We're both super paranoid about this, so hopefully the sleep sack will really help until she's ready to transition into a toddler bed.. We lowered the mattress to the lowest possible adjustment but he climbed over and fell really hard :( We took the slats out of the crib and placed the crib mattress on the floor with the crib surrounding it still. It lasted until he was 2 and a half! My brother was climbing out at 10 months, which is insane. I've heard using a sleep sack can help because they can't swing their leg up, but I'm interested in hearing other ideas too. Sometimes I think Henry's going to do it soon but he's only a year old and I think this is too soon. Good news is we've padded around his crib with foam floor tiles so I'm not too worried if he does manage it.
