we took our first unassisted steps a few days before Halloween (I am a terrible record keeper, but I can remember it being right about then) so just shy of one, but she didn't really start walking over crawling until about 2 weeks later, which was about her 1st Birthday. She walks exclusively now with the occasional switch to crawling if the surface is slippery to her or uneven (she'll be 15 months on 2/13)

If we had a second, I think I'd want them to take their time, too! ;)

My son was walking at 9 months. It was earlier than we were expecting and it was hard to keep him out of every little thing. :) DD is 6 months now and has been early on every physical milestone so far so it will be interesting to see if she will follow in his steps (no pun intended...).

It's funny, because DD1 walked early and crawled at 5 months, but was a bit of late talker. DD2, on the other hand, is a really, really early talker, but didn't start walking until Thursday (13.5 months). Each baby is so different!
