She's 1 year and she's said a few words (buh-bye, Dada, dah/dog) but hasn't done it regularly enough for me to think she knows what they mean.

P is a talker for sure. I swear she says "hey" when meeting or gretting someone, "hi dad" when DH gets home or wakes up, "who's that" when looking at a picture or in the mirror, and "teddy" when she sees her teddy bear or her "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear" book. She is 8.5 months. And, they may not be 100% easy to understand, but I totally know what she's sayi.g.

Lala was early and said "hi" with an accompanying wave at 7 months. Mama followed shortly after around 8 months...

M. is different. At 10 month she says gog for dog and that's about it. She can imitate "hi" but would never say it on her own and says "mama" but I don't think she means me (yet). She's also said "dada" but doesn't quite get who it is. She'll get there. I'm just happy that she has one word and I think it's hilarious that it's dog, since she and the dog are best buds!

charlie said his first word -- ball just before his first birthday. he definitely knew what it meant. mama came a couple weeks after that.

olive said her first word around the same time. even though her milestones are more recent, i can remember charlie's better because i was more obsessed with them!

My son (8 mos) has been babbling for awhile and says mammamamamma, emememem, and bababbababa. I don't think he correlates what he is saying to anything though. He knows who mama and dada are it seems but can't articulate the words himself.

When did your LO say words and mean why he/she was saying?
