It became more consistent around 5 months old. Between 7-7.5 months. He didn't start sitting until he could crawl! But he was a somewhat early crawler, early walker! I never worried about his milestones because they all seemed to even out. Early/spot-on for some, late for others. That happened just after he started to crawl. Sadie could sit on her own (without any outside support) at 16 weeks (about a week before she turned 4 months). She is tripod sitting though, not straight up. The first time she did it she only lasted about a minute, but by the next day she was sitting like that for as long as I would let her. I imagine she'll be sitting straight up by 5 months. </p> <p>My doc did say that girls usually hit milestones sooner, but either way, all babies learn and develop differently. Where he's at seems totally normal for 6 months! No need to worry - they will all do it in their own time! LO didn't start crawling until just shy of ten months and now at nearly 12 months, she has only recently started pulling up on furniture and tentatively cruising. She did it one day and the next day she was a pro. A month later I think she could sit all day until she gets bored. Of course I worried about it, and now my advice would be: don't worry about it! Once he figured that out, he was crawling within another week or so.
