I guess technically she is a little reclined actually... but she's fine being completely upright if we pull the adjustable recline all the way up. Of course, our daughter also recently started sitting up unassisted, just after 5 months of age. So you probably have to judge your baby a bit. It reclines so we started out in a more reclined position, but during our walks when I have the shade pulled totally in front to block the sun (which doesn't let the seat recline so much) she's been doing just fine. We have an Uppababy Vista and LO can sit in it at 16 weeks (and has been doing so since about 10) at a very slight incline. Now at 4 months she does great this way, although she looks very small.
