We don't have a high chair with a tray so maybe that's why it was so late? We always put food in front of him that he was welcome to grab but he just didn't have much interest. Maybe around 7? We started with purees at 6 months, and my DD was the same, just looking and playing around with her food. I would give her finger food every now and then, and she suddenly started putting it in her mouth around 7 months, and consistently around 8 months. When could your LOs feed themselves with finger foods? DD is a little over 6 months, and has been eating solids for a few weeks. She's all about the purees, and will play with chunks of steamed veggies and fruits on her high chair tray, but has never once put one in her mouth. </p> <p>She'll open up if I have a chunk in MY hand, and she puts all kinds of other things in her mouth (toys, her own fingers, etc). Just curious when your kids made the connection! </p>
