"What color is that?" is such an abstract question. You might get better results asking LO to pick the green ball (or whatever) out of a line up. I also know that there are certain colors that are harder to differentiate. So I would say soon! We go over colors all the time, but if you say, "what color is this?" she'll always say green. If I say that, "this color is blue," then she'll repeat back to me "blue."
