But there are definitely ways to have those parties but keep the licensed character appearances to a minimum so it doesn't seem cheesy. The second year, I chose Ni Hao Kai-Lan (an adorable cartoon she was into) and the decor was red/aqua/pink. The third year, she was into Toy Story 3 and it worked out perfect because I incorporated the characters carrying the number "3" (her new age) easily! And for 4... She chose a princess party at the last minute! Her and her friends loved it.
