<description>&#60;p&#62;thanks, @mrbee! i was actually just about to bump this.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;just spent the evening with my 2 nephews (28 months and 39 months). i read to each of them separately.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;while i read to the younger one, he mostly played with his blocks by my side. when i asked if i should continue reading, he'd keep saying yes. so i'm pretty sure he was listening.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;when the older one came by, i let him choose a story. but he had lots of energy and wouldn't let me read past the first few words. so instead i let him flip through and make up stories for the pictures. we did this for a few stories before he lost interest.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;this is totally normal, right? it just so does not fit the image in my head of reading to kids.
