We're still working on it at 15 months old. He sees my parents about every 6 weeks. We're seeing the inlaws for Christmas. It's going to be a lot of stranger danger there. After Christmas, LO is staying with my parents while we work, so hopefully he'll be happy around them.

I think it was around 3 months or so. She sees them all enough that she's very comfortable but if I let someone new hold her shell cry even if she can see me. She's 12 mo.

@lawbee11: starting recognizing them at 3-4 months and loves them very much. But if mommy is in the room, sometimes he still only wants mommy!

@sorrycharlie: She's fine if I am in view, but if she can't see me or DH she usually gets upset.

R recognizes my parents but she still freaks out at first if we leave the room. So we usually stay in the room, till she warms up and then she is ok.

My mom nannied B when I was working so he is really comfortable with my parents. He doesn't know DH's parents as well but he is still really social with everyone. I've been wondering when stranger anxiety will hit. Right now, he will go to anyone.

stranger anxiety started with us right around the same time! no one could believe it. she was generally okay with my parents though..I was over there most days hanging out because i was bored home by myself (DH was working like, 60 hour weeks at that point).

the stranger anxiety faded by 9 months or so, I think..only to come back around a year. ugh. it's not even STRANGER anxiety - she smiles and talks to strangers! but people that she thinks might take her away from me or something. ILs, extended family, etc. she freaks.

LO is 4 months old. My mom comes over every Sunday to spend time with her. Yesterday she smiled when my mom walked in, but soon after I handed her to my mom so that I could go get something from the kitchen and when I left the room my LO freaked out and started screaming. I know it makes my mom feel bad. She seems too young for stranger/separation anxiety, but maybe not? I don't really know when that starts happening.

How old was your LO when he/she began to recognize and get comfortable with people other than you and your SO?
