@Mrsbells: that is exactly what my son does!! He is 5 mos old and would definitely watch TV all day if I let him. TV has been on so much more since we've been watching the Olympics and he's been loving it...oooh child..

I do plan to definitely keep it limited as he gets older, maybe one movie a week.?

@purrpletulips: I'm ok with that. I LOVE big dogs and when our old dog died earlier this year I (finally) talked DH into signing up as a foster family with a rescue group that specializes in XL dogs... wouldn't you know it, we got matched with this ~40-lb goofy corgi-border collie mix (seriously, this dog looks ridiculous) that was too sweet and too easygoing to let go, so after all that we now have a medium-sized dog :)

My son must be a couch potato because he seems glued to the tv too - I have it on sometimes when I feed him and he always wants to sit up to watch it....and he's 2.5 months.

My oldest (3) only just started to like to watch certain cartoons on TV and only if I allow him to. I like to limit his tv/iPad/iPod/iPhone watching times. It makes him tired and cranky sometimes which makes me cranky too. :P I bought a timer for his potty training and since I'm not using it now I use it to limit his time on all of those, specifically the iPad/iPod. Works pretty well and he enjoys looking to see how much "time" he has even though he doesn't really have the concept of time down yet. Still, he's not bad...yet!

As for my 4 m.o., oh boy, he LOVES to watch TV. I think he's just fascinated by the images. I hope it's not a sign! Yikes!

We are horrible with TV and our LO. Sienna doesn't watch it yet, but Mavrick LOVES tv. Since he was 8 weeks old. Obviously I wouldn't keep it on all day, but still. I know we are bad on that front. I would say he was able to watch a disney movie in full length at 1. Certainly not something to be proud of. :|

I usually don't have her watch, but the olympics have been calming her down totally! She's almost 3 months and seems to love volleyball and water polo the best (like squealing at the tv when the announcers get excited!). I had some serious cleaning and organizing to get done, so I figure a couole of days with TV won't kill her, I can be OK with it if it lets me get stuff done today!

My LO is 7 months and is absolutely mesmerized by television. She's never seen it on for more than a minute or two, but it immediately turned her into a little zombie. It was SO creepy, and it has definitely helped me stick to my guns about not allowing any television at least for now! If she didn't care about it, I might be more relaxed about having it on at home.

DD is still not that into TV at 28m but will still only watch it in passing, never for a whole show. DH started putting on Netflix shows (most recently Backyardigans) which DD will request to dance to but after the initial sequence she loses interest. She did however lay down with/on the dog the other day and watch about 20min of a Veggie Tales movie before deciding to do something else.

my LO isn't very interested in tv yet. She'll play and look up occasionally when we're watching. She loves youtube though. :P

I wish our LO had no interest in the TV but he is so mesmerized by it! If we're watching TV when he's in the room, we try to face him away from it or put him in his Jumperoo to distract him but he still manages to crane his neck to look at the screen. Sigh.

LO is 3 months and was fighting me to watch the Olympics all weekend. I even tried covering her eyes with my hands and she kept moving and trying to see so we finally turned it off. My husband doesn't care, though. As I was leaving he was telling LO, "We're going to watch the Olympics today!"

@Mrs. Bee: This was DD, too. She just wasn't interested in longer than 3 (or so) minute clips before recently.

DS, on the other hand, is only four months and will literally contort his body so he can watch tv, if it's on. We don't usually watch tv when he's awake, but we did have the Olympics on this weekend, and I had to take him to a different part of the room so he couldn't see the screen!

my baby had loved tv from the very beginning. she will twist and contort her litle body to watch the tv no matter what angle the tv is from her. if I face her away from the tv she will arch her back and twist her neck and still watch it, so we have to turn it off. she is only 3 months old

She's zoned into it since she was about 12 weeks old. We really try not to watch it when she's around. This was taken this weekend when she found the power of the Disney channel.

I think I'm the only parent who has this problem.... I can't get my LO to like tv! My head is hurting pretty bad today and I'd like her to sit and watch tv for a few minutes so I can get a break, but it's just not happening. I thought by one she'd start to get into it, but I guess not.

I remember going to a friend's daughter's first birthday that was Yo Gabba Gabba themed because she loved the show and she wanted to watch tv the whole time we were opening presents. I don't want my LO to be like that and want to watch tv all the time, but there are times where it would be nice.... like today! Oh well, I guess it's better that she doesn't love it then that she's addicted to it.
