We did the controversial thing and had him tummy sleeping by 8 weeks. His reflux was so terrible, and after weeks of using the rock n play and trying to wedge the bassinet mattress and it not working, we switched him to tummy. It worked wonders for us, though I would never have even thought about considering it if it weren't for his reflux.

She started sleeping on her stomach around 5 months. At first, I kept trying to flip her over until I realized it was futile and she was just fine the way she was.

Just recently, and DD is 2 years old, when I lay her down for the night, she immediately rolls to her stomach and falls asleep on her belly. Prior to this happening (like, we're talking 2-3 weeks), I would lay her on her back and she'd fall asleep on her back.

DS is 7 months old and still sleeps on his back. Occasionally he will sleep on his side, but 99% of the time he's on his back.

Mine will probably be the controversial answer - but both kids slept on their sides from day 1 coming home from the hospital. Back is best. Yes I know. Less chance of SIDS. Yes I know. But my kids slept better and longer on their sides from an early age. I even let my daughter tummy sleep a few times for nap at around 2 months (well before she was rolling). When they started rolling over, I let them. No point in disturbing a sleeping baby

Is her head elevated on the Boppy pillow or in the hole? I'm trying to picture it!

Pretty soon after she started rolling from back to belly at around five months. We transitioned her out of her swaddle sack and as soon as she figured out she could roll over to sleep she did. She didn't roll belly to back until month later, so there were a few nights there when we had to rescue her and flip onto her back. She'd immediately roll onto her side and then her tummy and go back to sleep, but she wanted to get there herself.

@Smurfette: ditto. It was earlier than I was comfortable with at first but there was no way I could keep her from rolling so I had to embrace it.

She side slept from a week old or so, but not every time. Always a wiggler.

As soon as she could roll over she started sleeping on her belly. Now I just put her down on her belly, she wiggles, gets comfy, and sticks her bum in the air. so cute
