I can't remember what the ages were, but my 15 month old had phases where he would talk and babble a lot, and some where he didn't. </p> <p>He started saying dada, then mama a few months later around 12 months. Now he hardly ever says dada (though he knows him by name). He just says Mama, "ba", screams and grunts! To be completely honest, I'm a little concerned but I'm a worrywart. Her communication is limited to this weird gasping noise, vowels, and "bbbbbbbuh" and "mmmmmm". He's 5 months old and babbles so much. His newest thing is to scream and screech. He's definitely testing out his voice. He's always been a vocal, loud baby. </p> <p>My mom told us to babble back at him so he can hear the sounds himself and start a "conversation" of sorts. We've been doing that from the very beginning. Also, if you want to encourage language, read to your baby and a lot. He was working on crawling more before that. Our pediatrician said that they focus on one thing at a time, either physical or verbal. Now she does sometimes, but it's not a ton. She makes a lot of noises but they're mostly growls and random screams. Is this leading up to her babbling more? I'm not super worried, I'm just wondering when we can expect her to start "talking" more and moving towards actual words. </p>
