I'm too scared of messes and think he eats better when I feed him. Of course as soon as I give him the freedom to do it on his own, he was ecstatic. He likes using a fork too but I have to stab the food with it- he can't really do that himself.<br /> I started by putting LO's hand around the spoon and guiding it to his mouth- if you start doing that, you'll see whether your DD is interested in it and/or picks it up easily. He even stabbed the gnocchi last night. I think it depends on your child. For fun - it's still pretty messy!
