We started using a plate a couple weeks avo. She is getting better about not trying to drop it over the tray and onto the floor. She can use a spoon if we load it( only tried yogurt) but we don't use it regularly.

We do plates occasionally at almost 16 months. I do try to do a fork for one or two meals a day. He likes using the fork and is pretty good with it (altho I often have to help him pierce the food).

We're behind the curve on this. M is 16 months and still eating with her hands almost exclusively. I just put things on her tray because otherwise she'll just put the plate on her head. When I give her utensils she gets super distracted and doesn't eat much. Any thoughts on how to work on this?

She's always liked having a spoon/dish, but we've been consistently serving meals that way with her actually using them effectively over the last month or so. 13 months?

14 months we used a plate and utensils regularly but she probably wasn't really using her fork and spoon until closer to 16 months. Even now she prefers to use her hands bc it's faster and only really uses a spoon when having soup/yogurt and will randomly use her fork

About twelve or thirteen months I think? Miss A is now sixteen months and can manage a plate, fork and spoon reasonably well although she still eats with her hands 50% of the time.

When did you start putting your LO's food on a plate? My son is almost a year and right now we just put his food on his tray for him to eat with his hands. He's transitioning to the toddler room at daycare and I think they use plates so I was thinking we should try it at home too. How about offering a utensil? Sometimes I give him a spoon but he usually just chews on it and gets distracted from eating.
