She is getting better about not trying to drop it over the tray and onto the floor. I do try to do a fork for one or two meals a day. M is 16 months and still eating with her hands almost exclusively. I just put things on her tray because otherwise she'll just put the plate on her head. When I give her utensils she gets super distracted and doesn't eat much. My son is almost a year and right now we just put his food on his tray for him to eat with his hands. He's transitioning to the toddler room at daycare and I think they use plates so I was thinking we should try it at home too. How about offering a utensil? Sometimes I give him a spoon but he usually just chews on it and gets distracted from eating. </p>
