Once Liv used a straw cup, she never went back to the spout ones. You just have to start with one thats easy to suck out of. It went well. We used one with a spout to start, but once she got the hang of it she preferred the straw. I gave her BM in it occasionally, but beware - the ones with the spouts can leak a LOT. Once Liv figured out that water goes in them as well, she lost interest in BM being in them and only wanted the water. She doesn't care for a bottle but I have a good amount of BM I would rather not waste.
