She's been holding on to a spoon and feeding herself (me loading the spoon) since maybe 13-14 months. At 17 months she'll get food onto a spoon or fork pretty accurately.

I let my LO use a spoon starting as early as 10 months but she wasn't capable of actually USING it until she hit about 12 months. And even then, it had to be thick congee style rice porridge so it wouldn't go sliding off the spoon all over the place. She became proficient at it around 15 months. She's 2 now and she still spills soup when if she takes big spoonfuls but she can spear her food with a fork and use her spoon pretty well with very minimal mess.

She's been using forks for a bit now...one day, she just wanted one and she's gotten better at it slowly. She eats her own yogurt with a spoon now and spears things with a fork. Only the adult fork will do. Sigh. She's been using them since about 14 months, maybe a little earlier.

He's been given a spoon for a long time - maybe 7-8 months? His infant room introduced it very early. He's only been effective at using it since 13ish months and just now is consistent with a fork/spoon over his hands at 20-21 months.

We've been so lax about having him use utensils. Now at 18 months he is starting to get the hang of it.!

He's always wanted to hold one/play with it since 1 year... he started actually using it at 16/7 months? more consistently now at 19 months.

We have been giving R a spoon since 12 months. She usually just holds it and eats with her hands. The last couple weeks she is using a fork more, but most of the time holds it and eats. Work in progress.

I don't remember for LO 1! Maybe a spoon at 15-16 months ? She wasn't very accurate for the first few weeks.
