He was still mainly crawling on his 1st birthday, although he was taking a step or two. By 13 months, he was full on walking (and falling!). But we have a late talker so it just goes to show, every baby is different!

@looch: oh I completely agree and personally I don't think it's the case. I meant slow in the sense it just will take her longer but she will get there

DS was 9.5 months old. He started crawling late at 8 months but as soon as he got that down he started trying to walk. He was walking and running around pretty well by 10 months.

I don't generally buy into the argument that boys or girls take different amounts of time to do things. Milestones are given in ranges, so as long as a child is in the range, then I don't worry.

My newphew didn't walk until 18 months or later because he was using one of those wheeled walkers, so he never had to learn, he just pushed himself along.

@Mrs. Sunglasses: lastly (this is a sensitive point for me), a child that has developmental disabilities isn't a burden, they just require different support. Using labels like "slow" can be hurtful, so be careful the words you choose.

@Coco Bee: @Mrs. High Heels: Usually boys take longer to walk then girls. Usually around the 15 month mark buty niece clearly isn't a boy. Plus, they say walk early, talk late and vice versa but she barely says 6 words.

I just hope she won't be "slow" it doesn't seem like she would. I just think my sister and BIL. Aren't helping. They still fed her her bottle (no no in my books) how do you think she'll react once the baby arrives. Oh boy'

My son didn't walk until 15 months. I thought he was on the later side too but maybe not. My daughter just turned a year and can care less about walking as well. She was late sitting up too. She's more into climbing. In fact, the only time she attempts to stand on her own is when she's on top of something (she's managed to climb on top of the kitchen table many tjmes), as if she's trying to stake a claim onto whatever she's conquered.

between 14-15 months... i thought that was late but it seems to be a pretty popular choice based on the poll above!

My niece turned 18 months and still isn't walking yet. She's ready to walk (stands up, walks while holding stuff) but couldn't care less about doing it alone.

It's tough because my sister is 8 months pregnant and still has to hold her 18 month old daughter. I know they say usually by 16 months kids walk... but I'm curious to know when yours started up.

Mavrick started walking on his birthday. so 12 months on the nose. Also, do you know late walkers? As in REALLY late?
