17 months. She technically could physically walk before then..... She loved to walk holding someone's hand. But she was terrified to do it. If you let go she would just stand there and cry. She didn't have the courage to walk on her own until 17 months.

DS started taking steps at 9 months and was full on walking at 10 months. He is almost 11 months now and is walking more than crawling.

DS started walking at 13 months. I've always heard that 18 months is average.

My LO started walking at 11 months, which I thought was early. Sounds like 13-14 months is a average. Even though he could walk, he still needed to hold onto something to get himself back up if he fell. My niece started walking at 10 months and was really stable compared to my LO.

Cruising at 9.5 months; steps at 12 months and full on walking across the room at 13.5 months. I will say that once she was waking she was a pro...not many bumps/bruises due to falls like my friends LOs who were super early walkers

@Mrs. Pen: 20 steps is a ton! That's so cute he claps for himself. All the girls in my family are early walkers, my little sister was full on walking right after she turned 8 months, I didn't fully believe my mom until I saw the video. But my LO is a late talker though just like I was. She prefers pointing, grunting and her own sound effect language. Instead of asking for water she clicks her tongue and then says 'ahhhh', like after you take a nice cool drink on a hot day.

@Maysprout: the most he's taken at one time is 20 steps!!! it's amazing how excited and proud we get haha. He loves it too and claps for himself. It's precious. Your DD was an early walker!!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: yeah it's hard to know how far off it will be! I mean Cobi has been taking steps on his own for about a month now, but still isn't full-on walking. He was like that with crawling, he would rock and lunge forward for about a month before all of a sudden crawling..

He took some steps here and there at a year, but he couldn't walk across a room until about 13.5 months.

5-10 steps is a lot! He's going to be walking more than crawling in no time.

Our little girl was moving from furniture to furniture at 8 months but didn't really let go and take and steps until 9 months, and then it was these real hesitant steps and she'd fall down or dive on something pretty quick. Then at 10 months she started taking the 5-10 steps and by 10-1/2 months she was walking more than crawling.

I know some babies that walked really early; my brother walked at 10 months old and a friend walked at 8 months! I find that most people don't believe it when they hear and say it must be a mistake haha.

My son started taking steps at 11 months and is almost 12 months but not quite full-on walking, but is consistently taking 5-10 steps several times a day. I think I feel a year old as pretty "average" but I'm not sure what the actual average age is.

When did your baby walk?
