E watches clips on YouTube here and there. He's 9 months old. On a very rare occasion (he's boycotting naps and needs some rest of some kind, I'm about to lose my mind from the teething tantrums, etc) ill turn on Curious George but he won't really sit and watch it. He just glances at it as he's playing.

I said 3, but we don't actually have a tv. But at this point we feel comfortable with her watching a full episode of sesame street once in a while as a treat for being a good listener.

I think around 20 months. I was trying to wait until the recommended 2...... but I got pregnant, sick, and tired, so we started early.

Around 18 months, I started putting on Curious George when I needed a break from constant toddler stream of thought interaction. I'm a huge introvert, so it's hard for me to talk to someone all day. She gets to watch an episode or two on days when I'm tired or needing a break. She also watches cartoons with her father on weekends when it's my turn to sleep in, but he's a much less strict parent than me. It balances out.

Cartoons were HUGE for our recent long flights. She just sat there and watched them most of the flights. I think she was shocked that she kept getting more - it was amazing.

I grew up watching a TON of tv because my parents didn't do physical activity or anything, really. I think it was a huge problem - not the amount of tv, but the lack of exercise and outdoor activities. My husband and I have found a really good balance of mostly active recreations with a nice dose of indoor, passive ones, and it makes us feel really healthy and happy. I feel pretty confidant about passing that balance on to my daughter.

@Beyond2: so fearless. I watched too much TV as a kid. @grizz: DH is a staunch supporter of this. So I think with my kids the boob tube addiction will end.

6 to 12 months. She really didn't watch it then. Now she loves Team Umizoomi and Sesame Street! Happy about Team Umizoomi, make it'll help her love math. I personally hate it.

The tv is mostly on in our house. She doesn't watch necessarily but she does have an affinity for certain theme songs and such. We're a musical house. I did let her watch a My Little Pony vid on my iPhone in the car. Singing the song wasnt cutting it. I try to be mindful of what's on for background noise.

On a regular basis? Shes 15 months old and we still dont. Our TV is rarely on. We watch movies sometimes and she watches an occasional show on a computer sometimes (she loves Adventure Time) but its not something that happens regularly.

LO is 13 months and watches Sesame Street and Dinosaur Train with dinner (and sometimes with breakfast, too). She doesn't watch the whole show; she dances to the opening music, loves Abbey's Flying Fairy School, and Elmo.

I grew up watching TV as a kid, and it helped me in a lot of ways. It was educational for me, and I learned how to speak English and Chinese through television. So for me to deprive my kid just didn't seem right. Of course I only allow him to watch shows on PBS -- Daniel Tiger, Curious George, and Super Why. He started around 9 months old.

Our pedi and the American Academy of Pediatrics say 2 years old, so we're going to stick to that. DH doesn't care either way, but I grew up without tv and could take it or leave it.

When my son was born we actually got rid of the TV! I didn't want him to grow up addicted to it and didn't want the temptation of it being around. Out of sight out of mind!

olive just started getting into watching videos. we wanted her to be able to watch them on our recent road trip, and also we're going on a big trip to the philippines to visit mr. bee's parents next month, and if she can watch tv it will be a huge help! she is 21 months now and can sit for a little while, but gets distracted after 10 minutes or so. Charlie was the same at her age and liked videos, but didn't really get into tv until he was over 2.

we usually don't let them watch programs -- it's more one off youtube clips -- except sometimes we're just so dang tired that we let Charlie (3 1/2) watch an episode of dora or diego so we can get a break!

MIL came to watch LO last week and she was OBSESSED with finding TV programs (geared toward his age group) for him to watch. BIL lives with MIL and he and has a little girl that is 8 months old--apparently she is really into the Bubble Guppies (I have no idea who they are).

DH and I watch TV when DS is around but it's usually something we want to watch ie. the news, Big Bang Theory, Wheel of Fortune--you get my drift. When did you start showing your LO programs geared toward their age group on a regular basis?
