RJ got a bedtime bottle until about 12 months. When we switched to straw cups he wouldn't drink much so that kind of ended his bedtime bottle routine. We'd let him have a few sips, then switched it to water, and then nothing.

It's been a while because DD is almost 4 now, so I dont remember these things too well, but she probably stopped getting a bedtime bottle around 12-15 months because I was worried about the milk rotting her teeth

@artbee: Heehee! There are a lot of things I still do with DS that are for my peace of mind! Parenting is the hardest thing. It seemed like taking his bottle away was the end of the world, but in actuality, I think it was harder on me to hear him cry and know that I did it.

@Rosie Girl: Aww. Yeah you're right, I dont' want to deal with that!

I think bed time for us is always kind of weird b/c we don't do a normal winding down routine yet. Whenever I try she just gets cranky and wants to go to bed. We just put her bed time diaper on, put her in her pj's, and give her a bottle and that's it. Take away the bottle and I've got nothing :( So far I just rock her and sing her a short song, even though I know she just wants to go to sleep. So really it's more for my peace of mind than hers.

This is making me feel better.

But nobody answered my question. When did your babies stop with the bed time bottle? What's the norm? (Not that there's a normal with babies....)

I think you should be proud! At least this way you wont have to break her of it! And as long as she is sleeping through the night and is getting plenty during the day, I say go with it!

It sounds fine to me, too. She is thriving and is probably getting enough to eat during the day and just wants to go to sleep. Aw, sweet.

@NYCaliMama: We never worried about her gaining weight before. Like I said... 95 percentile :) Hopefully she stays that way.

Thanks!

I don't think you need to be worried. It's probably just a phase, but even if it isn't, she should be fine too if she's still consistently gaining weight.

My baby girl has refused her bed time bottle for the last couple of nights. Even though it's been a few hours since her last bottle, she doesn't want anything to do with it. She just wants to go to sleep!

So far it's been fine. I put her in her crib, she sucks her thumb, and she's out. She sleeps through the night still no problem.

But she's only 4 months old, and from everything I read online she should still be eating that bed time bottle until 6 months. I'm assuming it's because that's when they start solids. My LO is bigger than most (17 lbs 5 oz at her 4 month apt, 95 percentile), so maybe that's why she's ok not eating the bed time bottle?

Does anybody have experience with this? Should I be worried?
