If I put them in while she's distracted, they'll stay in longer. She's better about keeping hair bands in than clips. I treated them like living dolls, dressing them up and doing their hair. The mom was amazed that I could get the 1ish year old to leave her hair alone. When the girl would move her hand to her hair, I would gently say, "Oh no, we leave that in! It looks so nice," and then distract her. If she did take it out, I put it right back in. I could do that b/c I was close by and giving her 100% of my attention. They were the only thing that I could wrap tight enough so she had a harder time pulling them out.</p> <p>She has straight fine hair so no type of barrette will stay in. I will say that placement is key. Definitely a snap clip toward the top of her head seems to work best right now (as opposed to it being more on the side of her head).
