If you're worried about the taste from making a switch, Tom's also makes kid's fluoride toothpaste. We've found it to be the nicest-tasting. They come in mango and strawberry as far as I'm aware.

We've always used real toothpaste. She got spitting down at a very young age. Every now and then she'll swallow some but not a big deal.

It's still a struggle for us to brush LO's teeth. I still do it, so it will be a while for us until he learns how to brush himself.

My daughter (2 years 4 months) still uses nothing (since we ran out of training toothpaste). She still fake spits (makes a spitting sound but nothing comes out), so we will not switch her until she knows how to REAL spit.

We went to the dentist right before LO turned two and she said to finish out our training toothpaste and start on just a smear of regular.

We started using regular toothpaste as soon as the ADA changed their recommendations. So, they say you should use a tiny smear of regular toothpaste as soon as baby teeth come out and a pea size I think once kids turn 2 or 3 I don't remember. You can check out the ADA's website for the exact recommendation.

We alternate at our house. I try to brush with fluoride toothpaste at last once a day but she still had a couple tube of the training kind and she likes that better. Usually I'll let her brush with the training kind then when it's my turn I'll use fluoride. She's pretty good at spitting. I only use a rice size amount in the brush and I'm not worried about her swallowing it. She's 2.5!

DS1 just went to the dentist - he's 29 months. They said it was time to switch him over to the kids toothpaste. He caught on pretty quickly on he whole spitting the toothpaste out thing. We got the kids crest samples so we've been using those.

We currently use Tom's training toothpaste for both of our LO's. They are running low and I was curious if I should continue having my 2.5 year old use training toothpaste or buy her something else. We have been trying to teach her to spit in the sink so hopefully she masters that soon.

When did you switch your LO from training/toddler toothpaste to kids toothpaste? Which kind do you use?
