1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
17 months/didn't matter.

2. How many hours do you consider STTN?
Through the night so, sleeping from the time she goes down to the time she wakes up in the AM without needing someone/something.

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
We weaned. The next night, boom.

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
See above.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
None.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?
Yes. We NEVER messed with her naps or overnight sleep.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?

21-23 months, 11kg but LO did occasionally STTN prior to six months

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?

I count it as sleeping through if I don't get out of bed

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/ training?

We tried to follow good sleep hygiene but sleep training wasn't a good fit for our family, LO has made a natural progression towards STTN

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?

Our intervention was nursing and bedsharing from the first wakeup

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?

N/A, we waited it out which has been a reasonably stree-free process.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?

We've always had a reasonably good napper who likes routine

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?

In her cot, in her room and now in her bed

FWIW my LO needed her night feeding till 18 or so months because she was dropping her day feeds but not taking in enough solids to replace the calories, once she started eating bigger meals she naturally started to sleep through, I also believe she was a baby that just needed to extra parenting and comfort at night.

I pumped until 13 months, so breast milk in a bottle. But even now that she eats a ton of food and drinks hemp milk, it makes no difference to her night sleep.

That lasted for 2 months when I went back to work from summer break and her skeep has been awful ever since. Shes going to be 16 months soon and we are back to 1-2 waking a night...we've also had a lot of illness which isnt helping.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
10 months, I think around 18 or 19 pounds.

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
I consider it 10-12 hours (me not having to attend to her before 6-ish in the morning)

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
On her own. However we sleep trained for falling asleep/staying asleep at 5 months.

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
Ferber method (extinction with checks) at 5 months. She was waking 8-10 times per night due to her 4 month regression and this helped her only wake when hungry (2-3 times per night at that age). We did not sleep train to remove her MOTN nursing sessions, she did that on her own gradually.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
She hasn't really had true regressions since 5 months, she wakes sometimes due to random things like teething, nightmares, or losing a paci, but not consistently.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?
Somewhat at daycare but she has never been very consistent about naps.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN? 14 months, he was about 18 pounds (2% for weight)
2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
He never slept for more than 3 hours until then, so I would say it was probably 6-8 at that point
3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
On his own. He was eating solids, but also still night nursed. He has always been small (preemie).
4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age? NA
5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
Illness definitely - if he has a fever, he doesn't sleep well at all; Teething definitely. Usually lasts a week or two, depending on how sick he is (and for teething, molars are the worst)
6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?
Yes - he takes a long afternoon nap consistently, but no AM nap
7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Co-sleeping (for night nursing) for a bit, then crib

Trust your instincts. What's right for me / others may not be right for you and your baby. My husband wanted to CIO and I refused. Our LO sleeps through the night like a champ now (unless he's really sick or getting molars). I know how hard it is (C slept in 10-20 minute bursts for the first 3 1/2 months), and I was still getting up with him several times a night for the first 8 months that I was back to work. It can be exhausting, but they do grow into healthy sleep patterns eventually!

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
At 4 weeks she was sleeping 10pm-8am. At 4 months she was sleeping 7pm-7am. I hit the sleep jackpot and am so scared I'll pay for it with baby #2 lol

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12? As long as I don't have to wake up myself before 6:30am, I consider it STTN.

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
She naturally did this, but I had to sleep train her at 6months to fall asleep on her own without the bottle

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
CIO with checks at 6 months

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
She has STTN pretty consistently....there was a week long stretch around 7 months where she was up in the MOTN. She is still a terror in hotel rooms, waking up multiple times a night and not going back down. But generally we have been very lucky.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?
Nope - she was so young when she started STTN our naps were all over the place

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
She was in a bassinet in her own room.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
Just before 12 weeks, he was around 14 lbs?

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
12, 7-7!

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
On his own

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age? N/A

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
We had a short regression at 4.5 months for a few nights, teething at 8 months affected naps, and when he has a cold he'll wake up a couple of times.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule? Yep, in that we loosely followed EASY, but it wasn't set times, it was more about the wake time in between.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib

FWIW, I think it was pure luck, we started him in a pnp, he also napped exclusively in the swing until five months, and he also slept on the nb lounger a lot. His sleep went from consistent at 2-3 weeks (doing 5 hour stretches) to completely erratic 1-2 hour wakes from weeks 6-9, started lengthening again at 10, moved him into his own crib at 11, and then he STTN the following week. I slept in the nursery for the first week because we'd transitioned him earlier than I wanted, but it ended up being the best for all of us!

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN? 3 months, around 12 lbs I think?

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12? For us STTN was about 8 hours in the beginning and is now closer to 12.

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training? Once the pedi gave us the go ahead to stop feeding her every 3 hours at night she slowly started sleeping longer. 4 hours, then 5, 6, etc.

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age? While she was sleeping more and more, she was still waking up for one feeding and then having a hard time going back down. I started doing a dreamfeed a little before she normally would awaken. This made all the difference. At that point she started sleeping 12 hours. We still do the dreamfeed and she sleeps about 8 or 9 hours from the dreamfeed to waking.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long? Travel was the biggest culprit! We had a few nights where she woke up around 3 or 4 am around 4 months, but she never really regressed.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule? Sort of. She was consistently napping twice a day, but it all depended on when she was actually tired, when she was waking in the morning, if we were out, etc.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other? She was napping in the swing during the day and sleeping in the PNP in our bedroom.

Other notes: I really don't think she started STTN until we pushed her bedtime up. Before then she was going down around 9 or 10. We started regulating her naps and putting her to bed around 7 and things started to get easier.

@gotkimchi: My DH went in for every wakeup instead of me. He would rock her and sing to her but no feeding. She caught on really quickly that she wasn't going to get fed at night anymore. It was only bad for 2-3 nights. This was almost 3 months ago and we've had to go in a couple of times (due to illness/teething) but that's it! Every other night she STTN ever since. Good luck!

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
We sleep trained at 11 weeks. She did great. I'll probably sleep train sooner with the next baby.

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
I guess close to 12? LO's bedtime has always been from 8:30 PM to 8 AM.

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
We definitely noticed her sleeping for longer stretches before we sleep trained, but I don't think she could learn to self-soothe without some help. Before sleep training, we'd have to rock her to sleep, and she'd sometimes wake up in the night and have trouble falling back asleep.

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
Sleep training at 11 weeks. We started with checks, but that really just made things worse for LO. Night 1: 2 hours to go to sleep; Night 2: 1.5 hours; Night 3: 10 minutes. Since then, she goes to sleep for naps and bedtime in under 15 minutes.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
The 4 month sleep regression made it so she took a little longer to nod off sometimes. She had some bad naps. But I really think sleep training helped her power through it. The same goes for teething and sickness--a little longer to fall asleep, some extra crying, but nothing really bad. The very worst we've had to deal with so far (LO is 9 months) is when she learned to sit up on her own. For about a week and a half, she'd sit up in her crib and start crying. I think she was getting stuck, even though she normally knows how to lay back down. I guess because she was still half asleep? If we didn't go in, she'd just keep crying and fall over eventually, which would lead to more crying. Going in every 15 minutes to lay her down really sucked. But it was a very temporary thing, thank goodness.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap schedule?
Yes. I think our consistent nap and bedtime routine were paramount to having her STTN so early. I can't recommend the Moms On Call books enough in this regard.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
She slept in her pack n play (it was raised to the higher position) in her room. We transitioned to the crib at 5 months without a problem.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN? DD and DS at 8 weeks abt 10lbs
2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12? When I'm Sttn! So I considered it from 9-6ish
3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training? Some training

STTN for me meant no wakeups to feed and could put himself back to sleep if he woke up and that he slept more than 7 hours....that didn't happen until 11 months.

Charlie

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?

Charlie - 4.5 months when we sleep trained. He was a big baby... over 16 pounds at the time I think.

Olive didn't sttn until 16 months when we sleep trained. We sleep trained at 13 months and she sttn, but was sick for months 14-15.

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
At least 10.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?

Charlie's sleep the first year was pretty much perfect. No regressions, teething didn't bother him, illness either.. travel did affect him and he had a pretty bad 15 month regression.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine?

We nap trained charlie at the same time.
Nap trained Olive at 8 months.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?

Crib.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN? She was 11 weeks and 18 pounds.
2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12? 12, sundown to sunrise. She was sleeping six hours much earlier.
3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training? She did it on her own.
4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long? At seven months she picked up a 5am wakeup that I think had to do with cruising, crawling, etc. She was back to normal in three weeks. She still has occasional wakeups for illness or teething. Nothing too bad though, we've been very lucky.
6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine? Her nap schedule was erratic for a long time, but her naps themselves were always good.
7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other? Co-sleeper in our room.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
Right at around a year old.

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
I know some people consider it 6 but I'm sorry, 8-2 is not STTN. I didn't consider it STTN until she went down for the night then didn't wake up until it was time to get up for the day. For us, that was 12-12.5 hours (7-7/7:30).

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
No, we sleep-trained.

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
6 months, 9 months, then it finally stuck at a year. She was EBF so it took night-weaning for her to STTN.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
Illness & teething. At least a couple of weeks each time.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine?
Yes. Our nap and bedtime routines are similar. White noise, sleep sack, sing/read book.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN? 4 months, don't remember the weight
2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
It was 7-5/6
3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
We had to do sleep training to get her to fall asleep on her own. We would only feed after 2, and then she started STTN on her own.
4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
6 months, we had to sleep train all over again due to teething/regression. Since then usually sickness or teething will wake her up but she usually goes back to sleep once we calm her down.
5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
5-6 months, she moved her 5/6 wake up to earlier and earlier, and then we were back to 3 a night. She was teething for the first time and also had her first really bad cold.
6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine?
Yes, sleep sack and put her down in the crib with sound machine on. No sound machine at day care.
7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
about 6 months old, not sure what she weighed. She was 8 lb 2 oz at birth, tho

2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12? I considered it a full night. 7-5 or so. She was doing 5-6 hour stretches within a month.

3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
We had to sleep train

4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age?
At 5 months, we did the Merlin in a crib nest. The first night, she STTN. Then she would STTN about 2x/week. Then she rolled in it after a few weeks and we moved to a sleep sack and did CIO. Took 20 min the first night. Took a full week to really "stick". She started to sleep on her side or belly, too.

5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
Honestly not much. Every now and then she'd have a bad night but it didn't last long. Just a couple days. Or a couple days a week. Even while sick, she usually STTN without our help. The 18 month regression was the worst and lasted 6 weeks. Then like that, it was over. And then we'll still have a random one-off bad night, like last night, where she was up at 11:45pm for a half hour, just crying and wouldn't calm down with us, no matter what.

6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine?
Daycare was working to get her on a schedule but she was still between naps, between 4 and 3.

7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Crib, in her Merlin.

1. What age/weight was your LO when consistently STTN?
DS1 - 4 months around 18 pounds
DS2 - around 5 months around 22 pounds
Both STTN when they started solids though DS2 took a bit longer. Weight did not play a factor AT ALL. DS1 was over 10 pounds at birth. Age and solids was a bigger factor.
2. How many hours do you consider STTN? 6? 12?
From bedtime until 5 or 6 in the morning. DS1 was an early riser who woke up at 5 and also didn't need a lot of sleep. I considered it STTN if he slept until 5 which was about 10 hours. He has only slept 12 hours at night maybe 4 times in his life and he is 2.
3. Did your LO naturally do this on his/her own or did it require some sort of intervention/training?
Both did it naturally once they started solids. No training at all on my part.
4. If it did require intervention, what did you do and at what age? N/A
5. What interrupted this the most? Regression? Illness? Teething? All of the above? For how long?
DS1 - not the best sleeper. He stopped STTN at around 7-8 months - I think probably because of separation anxiety. We began to cobed and he started STTN again. Every so often he still wakes up. Nothing specific causes him to wake up though - I can't blame teething or regressions. It's just him.
DS2 is only 6 months and nothing has affected him yet. Fingers crossed!
6. When LO started STTN did you have a consistent nap routine? Nope - neither of my boys had nap routines or specific schedules.
7. Where did your LO sleep when first STTN? Crib? Co-sleeping? Swing? Other?
Both were in their crib.

Hope this helps! After having two babies I can say that I think a lot is just based on the baby's temperament and personality. I have done absolutely nothing different and DS2 is a WAY better sleeper than big brother. I haven't done any kind of sleep training with either.

1. 11 weeks (12.5 lbs)

2. I consider STTN 6-7 hours. Specifically if they stayed asleep between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. For us, this was him sleeping roughly 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

3. He mostly did it on his own, but with help. For example, if he woke up, I would offer him his pacifier first before offering to nurse him, and if he went back to sleep, that was that. Doing this led him to stop waking up.

4. N/A

5. For us, regressions, illness, and teething all affected sleep, but not nearly as much for us as for most babies. We were lucky.

6. We had a routine of EASY (eat, activity, sleep), but his naps were varied from 20 minutes to 2 hours and totally random.

7. He first started sleeping these longer stretches in a bassinet.

I''ll go!

1. He was 7.5 months, I'd guess around 22 lbs.

2. I consider sttn to be 10 hours or so - from baby's bedtime until a fairly reasonable morning hour.

3. We night weaned 2 weeks beforehand, but did no sleep training
 - one day he just slept til 4, then it gradually got later over the next few days.

4. n/a

5. So far at 10.5 months he has been very good. He's had 4 teeth since and none have caused wakings. When he gets really congested he may wake a little, but its very rare. I am crossing my fingers that regressions won't hit him too hard!

6. Yes, he'd been napping well since about 6 months on 2 scheduled naps per day - although our nap routine was very simple.

7. He slept in his cot.

Hope the answers are helpful!
