Congratulations!! It sounds like you are doing great!! My LO was the same way. Your LO will become more efficient over time and will not need to suck for that long anymore!

I would say you and your baby are 100% normal. In the beginning babies aren't super efficient at emptying the breast so feedings can take a long time (over an hour isn't uncommon). Just as soon as you get done with a feeding it seems like it is time for another one, particularly since sometimes babies fall asleep or snooze during a feeding so they use you as a pacifier in the middle and then wake and continue nursing. Nursing every hour or two isn't uncommon in the first weeks. As long as baby is having plenty of wet diapers and is gaining weight you and baby are doing great. As far as pumping, I was never able to get more than 1 oz total between feedings until I went back to work. My baby was drinking all my milk so there wasn't much left over to pump out. Try to relax and give it some time.

Yeah my little one would feed for sometimes a whole hour. He ate a lot the first month.
I didn't pump at first, my midwife said not to so that I wouldn't get engorged. I didn't start pumping til about 4-5 weeks. But I wouldn't have expected to have gotten much more than that either.
I think you're doing great :)

My Lo is almost 2 weeks old and I usually pump between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 per breast at each session. It is definately increasing everyday!

Yes, you are right along the same lines as I was at that point. It took several weeks for me to move from the 1oz bottles up into the 3oz bottles to pump into and a couple months to need bottles bigger than that.

I can remember clearly how much because around that time I had pumped 5ml and my poor MIL accidentally dumped it out and cleaned my pumping bottles trying to help out.

Hang in there, it is very hard not knowing what you are doing, it will get easier eventually! Keep up the good work!

It is perfectly normal. Your body will make what your baby needs. I swear for the first month the baby has a growth spurt every 3 says.

I gave birth to my DD last Wednesday (5 days ago) .. she seems to want to breastfeed every 2 hours .. sometimes she goes 3 hours. However there are times when I am able to just do 20 minutes per breast.. but at times she just continues to want more and more.. so Ive sat there for an hour and a half breastfeeding her - switching breast here and there but I loose track at times!

IS THAT OKAY - that she feeds for up to an hour and a half sometimes?

also, I try to pump for 15 minutes (each breast at the same time) after each feeding, although sometimes I'm soooo exhausted I skip it. When I pump I get around 5-7 mil. per breast, is that normal?

When should I start to be concerned if it doesn't increase?

I was unable to get her to latch so I was given nipple shields and she has been able to feed that way.
