6-12 weeks were the hardest. The first month was easy, then evil colic reared its head or butt I should say. We were so unprepared for colic and baby sleep issues that it took the wind out of our sails. Once we started doing Happiest Baby and the Windi, things improved a lot. The best improvement was at 6 months when we sleep trained. I don't know how I functioned for those first 6 months. I still look back and wonder how I did and am I crazy to want another baby to go through the same thing again!

I remember 4-8 weeks being really tough. After that time, DD started sleeping for at least a 5 hour stretch at the beginning of the night, and I found if I could get 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep, then things were a lot better.

I would say about the end of the first week. I hadn't slept really at all. I was laying in the bed talking to my mom and fell asleep and started talking in my sleep. All in 20 seconds. Thats when I knew I was so exhausted, that I had to do whatever I could to get a solid chunk of sleep in. (like 4 hours at least).

LO has been a great sleeper all along but caused me miserable insomnia for the last three weeks of my pregnancy. Believe it or not I slept better once she was out.

Around 4 weeks. Adrenaline & hormones wore off, we'd moved into our new house/state, my postpartum complications were lingering, and LO was even less sleepy than before (which is saying something!!).

At 4 weeks when DS started STTN. You'd think extra sleep would make me less tired. I had gotten used to waking up every 3-4 hours.

@autumnlove: yes! It went from me getting up to nurse at 12 am, 2 am and 4 am.... To just waking up at 11 pm and 4 am, which was so much more manageable!

It's all a blur! I think I've generally felt ok because I made sure to take a quick 20 min nap every day. I still do that now. I do not usually fall asleep but just resting for 20 really helps me.

Weeks 3-8 were the hardest. The first two weeks were so good, and then colic (or what we thought was colic) hit at the 3 week mark.

When she started STTN occasionally (around 5-6 weeks). Getting a full night's rest, followed by crappy sleep for a few days, and then a full night's rest again was so hard and confusing to my body.

I'm almost one month PP and the fatigue is hitting me hard right now! I need to get it together because DH goes back to work next week. I think I will drop some extra pump sessions so I can take naps during the day.
