@BabyBruins: thanks for sharing your experience, I'm really hoping my OB will call back. I hope bed rest will help you go until full term!

@HLK208: With my first, at 33w6d I had a really bad stomach ache one night (thought I had food poisoning) and was throwing up and couldn't keep water down. I went to L&D because it was a Saturday and New Year's Eve, my BP was really elevated and would not come down, my blood and urine tests were positive for severe pre-e and I had a c-section that day. Looking back, I got swollen pretty early (24 weeks) but I thought that was normal. No headaches or vision changes.
With this pregnancy, at the exact same time, 33w6d, I had the same stomach ache and went to see my OB. My BP was elevated, but coming down and my blood and urine came back clear so I got to go home on bed rest. I've been on bed rest for 13 days so far and my BPs are fine at home, but elevated when I go to the doctor. I hate to admit it, but bed rest is working for me.
I would ask to go in and see your doctor and get a blood and urine test. Be sure to mention the spots. My OB told me to call day or night if I start having vision problems.

@HLK208: I was about 25 weeks. I had headaches, blind spots, dizziness & two migraines so bad that I couldn't walk & one where I couldn't remember my name & forgot how to read. Blind spots & headaches do run in my family so I mentioned that as I went in & they also referred me to a neurologist who couldn't see me for a while. I kept mentioning it & I kept being told I was fine. Once I got to my weekly appointments I had high BP 2 visits in a row, was tested for pre -e & induced at 38 weeks. If you think you have it, keep mentioning it!

@runnerd: I put a call in but they want me to see a neurologist - over a month from now! I'll be nearly full term by then so it seems silly. I made the appointment regardless but I just feel like there's going to be problems before that time if I feel like I'm going to pass out and I'm seeing spots this frequently.

@HLK208: mine started around 27/28 weeks, my extremities started to swell pretty severely and then my blood pressure started to creep up. I was hospitalized at 37 weeks and put on strict bedrest (biweekly visits w/BPP ultrasounds & NSTs) until exactly 40 when I was induced.

Symptoms started at 23 weeks but didn't deliver until 34 weeks! Symptoms got really bad about a week or 2 before I delivered but we also knew I was going to develop it so in that way it was a little easier for my doctors to diagnose. I was going to the doctors twice a week and mostly just had high blood pressure and tons of protein spilling in my urine....I never got the headache/spots but I was pretty swollen at the end!

Definitely take care of yourself, lots of rest if you can! Hugs!

One of the blogs I read, her kids were born at 27 weeks and 28 weeks because of pre-e. So apparently it can start early. But I really, really, really hope that's not the case with you! Lots of positive thoughts and hugs!

They found mine at 38 weeks - but I think it had been there since 35-36. At my 36 wk appt I had high BP, but I had also had coffee that day which made me jittery - I didn't drink coffee at all while pregnant because it affected me differently. So we didn't think much of it... but at 38 wks it was through the roof, as was my urine test. Ugh. I wish I would have asked for a urine test at 36 weeks, but I had absolutely no idea. I was in the mindset that I wasn't "at risk" for anything, so I denied most tests. If I ever decided to have another one, I will do those tedious tests at each appt.

I REALLY hope you're not getting pre-e! hugs and prayers!

I'm only 30 weeks along (not even, a few days short of 30). My blood pressure is slowing elevating and I'm having dizzy spells where I see spots. I'm wondering if this is the beginning of pre-e. I had pregnancy hypertension with my last pregnancy but never had any other signs of pre-e.

How did you know something was off? And when?
