DS1 turns 4 next month and I feel like the last few months have been pretty easy with him. 2.5-3.5 was the roughest patch for us ever.

@meredithNYC: We have a similar thing, it will be weeks of great behavior and then all of a sudden one thing sets him off and the day is just gone.

Emotional control is our biggest challenge, my son takes things very personally, especially when another kid does something to one of his friends.

M is turning 4 at the end of the month and I have a feeling we're going straight from terrible threenagers straight to F-ing fours. :crying:

@SeptMomma12: I can relate to the socks thing. He wore Green Bay Packers socks religiously from 2-3 years old. I bought extra ones from Fleet Farm where my parents bought them. He's almost 4 and totally fine with whatever socks we put him in the night before. He's liking the Target seasonal socks from the $1 bins. Those socks hold up well over time too.

@.twist.: Ours is socks and underwear! It's unreal. God forbid the Paw Patrol underwear are in the wash the day he wants to wear them. And my parents bought him a pair of socks from my husband's and my college and he is obsessed. We had to order 4 more pairs because the meltdowns when his socks were in the laundry were getting ridiculous :bummed:

@.twist.: The clothes thing, totally normal. I found having him wear non character underwear to solve that problem. I had to buy him white undies for his baptism. Since then, it's all he wears. It's made that decision making thing off the table. When our youngest gets potty trained, I'm sticking to white undies. One less fight for us.

I have no idea. E is turning 4 at the end of August. We had a horrible, horrible tantrum last night about brushing his teeth. He was screaming and then crying as he brushed his teeth. I was managing the situation. It got so bad that DH came in because the screaming could be heard throughout the house and woke up the baby twice (who sleeps through everything). We did a night long time out, no tokens, no nothing. It was miserable and a total power struggle. He came into our room at 3am asking to sleep with us. Getting him to calm down was tough. DH and I hung out on the steps until he went to sleep.

TL;DR: Threeangers are why wine and chocolate was invented. I can't wait to get out of the threes and have him figure out emotional control.

Just commiseration!

We are heading into threenager territory ( I think he's already there, to be perfectly honest).

Please tell me I don't have the only toddler who is so specific about what shoes, pants, jackets, hats to wear!? He with ONLY wear his crocs. Which... is hilarious and annoying if I try to dress him up in a nice outfit. I don't fight him about it, but dammit I wish he'd wear a different pair of shoes sometimes.

Also, sometimes he'll whine and cry about the weirdest things, like... maybe DH or I am standing in the wrong spot, and we have to literally move one foot over for him to do what we asked. LOL

My LO turns 4 at the end of May and she seems to be *slightly* better, but things are still challenging. I find we might have two-three days of decent behavior followed by a terrible day. She's getting there, but I am starting to feel like her turning 4 won't result in the magic change I was so desperately hoping for.

E is turning 4 by the end of June. She still whines. I'm not sure if it's a 3-thing anymore ... it's morphed - I'm starting to think it's a 4-thing. I don't want to scare you, but I'm scared! :silly: :crying:

well.. he's 4, so....

:silly:

He has never been a crying on the floor tantrum kid, but very sassy and he likes to yell, throw things, when he's frustrated. Ask him to do something, does the opposite.

I feel thankful that we don't really deal with tantrums, but DS is definitely in the thick of his threenager phase. We have to repeat ourselves all day, he whines ALLDAYLONG, repeats everything we say, doesn't take us seriously if it's something he doesn't want to do, etc.

When did your threenager grow out of their toddler attitude?!
