First daycare: she started at 7 months, didn't need much of an adjustment period at that age.
Transition from infant room to toddler room: they did this suuuuuper gradually for her, so it was pretty seamless by the time she was finally fully transitioned.
New daycare, we just started at age 15 months: it took her about a week to stop crying at dropoff. Overall a very quick/easy transition though, she really seems to love it there. Even on the first couple of days, she would cry a lot at dropoff but quickly stop crying after DH left.

So much depends on developmental stage and the temperament of the child. So sorry your LO is having a rough time! I hope it gets better soon.

My toddler has been in daycare since 8 weeks but she attaches to her caregiver and struggles when she transitions to a new classroom. We just went through a transition. It took 6 weeks for her to fully adjust. There was improvement along the way but this is the first week she's been able to be dropped off without screaming at me and chasing me as I tried to leave. Or crying every time she saw her prior teacher.

My son has been going since he was 12 months, he's 28 months now, and still occasionally cries at drop off. Our tricks: make sure you have a few minutes to hang out with them to give them a bit of translation time, try to get them involved in something, and then try to get a teacher who can take over your role in the activity or just pick them up for a cuddle.

On average it takes 4-6 weeks if LO goes every day. Longer if they're part time. :crying:

My son started right at 2 years old and cried every day for three weeks. It got better after that.

My daughter started at 13 months and it took 4-5 weeks before she stopped crying every day.

Oh man, it's likely to be a while; especially if he isn't going full time. It's going to take more than a few weeks - my LO has been in daycare since an infancy and cries at drop off for multiple weeks at a time during/after any room transition. The toddler one was a couple of months of daily crying at drop off. The more routine you can build, in my experience, the better. Establish a firm routine at drop off. "Jobs" for littles are great. If a teacher can spend a few minutes dedicated with him at drop off that might help too. At the end of the day, it just takes time and this sounds totally normal

Mine started at 20mos for only two mornings per week. He cried for about two months. Eight months later, he's going five days per week and barely bothers to say goodbye when we drop him off. (He only switched to five days last month.)

My son began at age 2, it took a long time. Best advice I got was to give him a job to do, to make him look forward to completing it, rather than making it about a goodbye. Things like bring a sticker to the director, put out the napkins for breakfast.

My LO started around 23 months and it took a month or two for him to be happy at dropoff. Now he loves it and walks around like he owns the place. :-)

When did your toddler adjust to daycare? Declan (22 months) started daycare on July 1 and he BAWLS every time i drop him off. He cries randomly throughout the day (in short spurts) and by the end of the day, they usually have to bring Pierson in from the other room to comfort him. its breaking my heart.
