3 years 8 months, in preparation for attendance at an afternoon preschool session that coincided with nap time. I was super nervous about it, but falling asleep was taking over an hour and it was time.

While at 2.5 he quit napping at home on the weekends he still napped without fuss at daycare. Now at 3y3m he quit at daycare too. Which brings bedtime back to 7-7:30pm instead of ~9pm so I don't mind much although he is cranky by 6pm often.

@Alba4: LO is 4 and still naps daily. she does resist it but she isnt ready to drop it because on days when I have let her skip it she is visibly exhausted. She feels and acts much better with a nap so I plan to continue with it until she starts kindergarten when there are no more naps at school

DS is almost 4 and still naps most days. He did go through a couple phases where he would skip a few days in a row and now he will normally nap 5-6 days a week. I feel like it will be a gradual thing for him where he just naps fewer and fewer days until he totally gives it up.

DS is 3 and he just started not always sleeping. So far he stays quiet in his room, so I think we will have a gradual transition to quiet time.

She dropped it about a month before turning 3. I kept trying to put her in and she just wouldn't sleep. But once 4;30 rolled around, she'd be a disaster and would sometimes fall asleep on the couch. Eventually she got used to not having the nap and I gave up trying to make it happen. This was in Nov and she very, very rarely will fall asleep in the car or on the couch in the late afternoon but it's never affected her sleep.

34 months we moved him to a bed and he was done. I still forced the occasional car nap for the next 6 months since he really wasn't ready to give it up When he did and he just wouldn't nap at home.

My LO will be 3 next week and still needs a nap, but probably skips it on average once or twice a week- only it's more like she will skip it two or three days in a row and be a cranky mess, then go back to napping for over a week. The fact that she skips it on her own sometimes has led me to be a little less rigid about it- like I'm less likely to leave someplace early to catch nap time and I don't stress as much if she doesn't nap. The rule now is she doesn't have to sleep but she has to rest quietly in her bed. Sometimes if she's getting too upset and not sleeping I'll turn her light on low and give her a few books until her clock lights up.

Like you, with a baby, I need the quiet time from her!

I've got a strange kid. She'll be 5 in less than a month and still naps almost everyday. Kindergarten will be a tough transition in this regard next month.

LO1 dropped his nap shortly after he turned 2. LO2 is 2.5 and still going strong with his naps. He will occasionally skip one but not consistently. I don't let him nap past 3, and I usually put him down by 1:30.

DD1 has been dropping her nap for the past six months, staring right around her third birthday. She still needs a nap at least two days per week. If she naps bedtime is super late. There is no waking her up if she falls asleep in the afternoon.
If she naps it's at least three hours.
The transition has been hard. I can't put her in the car anywhere close to nap time without her passing out and then being a cranky disaster for the next hour.

Our DS will be 3 next month and just this week he has refused a nap 3 days. This is a huge change since he was a nap lover and would nap daily for 3+ hours. Of course I have a 5 week old and would love the 3 hour break in the afternoon, but that isn't happening.

So, what did nap dropping look like for your kids? Was it sudden or did they start decreasing in length. Do you creat a quiet time still?
