I don't know why I'm so nervous about cutting her nap. But just as I expected, she's still fast asleep and slept peacefully all night. DH's calling daycare now to tell them. I am really hoping all goes well.

At 2.5 we are still napping. My one year old only takes 1 nap too. Both at the same time for the same length of time

DD is 26 months old and can do without a nap, but her attitude/behavior are definitely noticeable. If she doesn't nap she starts to get very needy and grouchy around 4 o'clock. It's never really a problem since it means an earlier bed time (7/8 vs her usual 9 o'clock bed time). I definitely force her (put her in her bed and leave her alone) to nap when we're home because I prefer a happy toddler vs her alter sleepy ego. But if we're out and can't get a good nap in, I just avoid things that will trigger a melt down. :)

@SugarplumsMom: I agree. Bedtime was 10 or 11 during the end of the nap days. It's still later than I'd like without the nap, but not *that* late!

My oldest will be 3 in April and hasn't napped for a while now. Although, she will occasionally snuggle up with me in the afternoon while her little sister naps, and doze/ catnap for up to 45 minutes. She's always had low sleep needs, though.

At 3 years 4 months stopped daily naps. Once a week-10 days it will catch up with him and he will nap but then on that day he won't go to bed until 10pm... :/

DD will be 3 in May and takes a nap about 80% of the time. She's never been a great napper and usually only naps between 1-2 hours, more only if she's sick. I wish I could get a 3 hour nap!

Reviving! DD will turn 3 in June and has never been a good sleeper, except for the time we had a long weekend and she didn't nap. Her night time sleep was so glorious, I'm wondering if we should tell daycare to cut her nap.

I should mention that her sleep was not only long and restful, but she slept longer overall. Is 3 too soon to cut nap time?

I am curious as well, my son is almost 3 (december birthday) and he asks for his nap after lunch, especially on the weekends. I am pretty sure they still nap in the 3's room at daycare, so I am sure he will continue until he starts an official preschool, but then again, who knows!

Also curious. DS is almost 3 and still takes one after lunch nap. At daycare I think he naps about 1.5 hours. At home it's more like 2-3. I know at daycare they still offer naps to 4-year-olds if they want them, but don't make them lay down like they do for the younger ones. I am NOT ready for the naps to go away.

Subscribing!

My LO is 23 months and I went through days like this where I was so scared she was going to drop a nap. Everyone advised to push through it bc eventually their kids went back to napping 2-3 hours.

We go about 7 hours between wake up and nap time now...sometimes 6.5 hours. Basically she's awake around 7:30 and goes down at 2:30 for about 2-3 hours. She goes to be at 8:00. There was definitely a stretch there where she would fight her nap but we seem to be over it now.

I know a lot of kids shorten their night time sleep and start waking earlier and then go back to napping 2-3 hours. I think keeping them stimulated through the day helps. I really hope people tell me their kids are still taking good 2-3 hour naps and still sleeping 11-12 hours at night. I'm not sure how long that lasts but I'm hoping for at least 2 more years!

@Mrsjets: Tell me about it. Yikes

@autumnlove: Oh God. No... !!!!!

@Mrs. Bee: I am crossing my fingers and hope you are right.

@MamaBehr: So far he is still napping, he just doesn't "pass out" like he used to, and he doesn't nap as long as he used to either. I'll put him down for quiet time for as long as I could hold onto it.... But at the same time I'd feel bad if I put him down for quiet time (he goes to daycare during the week already, I'll feel very guilty if I don't spend every moment of his waking hours to be with him)...

@Mrs. Jacks: haha you crack me up! You owe your mom big time !!

@shellio: I am scaring me too. And I am with you that 1.5 hours is not enough lol. It was blissful when he napped 3 hours (or more if I let him) during the weekends, I'd just sat and stared at the wall for an hour (aka my mommy break time lol), then get up and do household chores for another hour, and then start cooking his dinner on the final hour, and he'd still be asleep. Oh how I wish those days are not over yet... (still hoping they'll occasionally return  )

DD is 3.5 years old, she doesn't nap every day but she naps most days.
DS is almost 20 months old and he sleeps every day for at least 1.5 hours a day.

However, I have heard of kids who drop their naps this early.

Can you put him down for quiet time? Or does he need constant stimulation?

My youngest is 27 months and naps anywhere from 1-2.5 hours in the middle of the day. She was a baby who hardly ever napped more than 40-45 mins, so 1 hour + is excellent for her.

When did your toddler drop transition from 1 nap to no naps?

LO is 20 months. For the longest time he used to wake up at 7-8am, nap by 1pm, then go to bed at 7:15pm. He used to just pass out by 1pm, and now he just won't go down! He also used to nap for a good 3 hours straight (or more if I let him) on the weekends. That was blissful. Recently he naps 1-1.5 hours. It is freaking me out a bit because I am not ready for no naps yet!

What is/was your 20 month nap/sleep routine like? When did your toddler transition to no nap?
