My son quit napping around 14 months, Maddy still (begrudgingly) takes 1 nap a day. She's terrible without one.

My nephews and cousin's kids all dropped theirs right around 2- I hope we can go much longer!

@chopsuey: @autumnlove: That is so early!! I have seen people on here say 14 months was "really early" to go down to 1 nap and dd has been on 1 nap since about 11 months. The past few days have been rough, nap wise, so much so that we have let her cio (20 min, approx) ...hope this is not headed our way too soon!

@Thenetexan: my LO is 26 months and this has been going on for a few weeks. I'm hoping it's a developmental phase and that she'll go back to napping 1-2 hours a day but a lot of people tell me some kids just need 12-13 hours of overnight sleep. I am just going to keep doing quiet time and cross my fingers that the regular naps return. I'm hoping for naps/quiet time until she's 4!

My DD went 8 weeks w/o napping around 2.5. I was so sad!
Then she started again!
DS stopped napping right before age 5 when it was interfering with bedtime. If he napped he was up till 10 pm. But no nap and bedtime was 7! Much better!!

@sandy: you just described life in our house to a T. My LO is 25 months. I also have the two hour rule regardless of sleep. Sometimes he actually falls asleep just before I go free him, which makes things really messy. I am also finding it takes him hours to fall asleep at night on his actual nap days.

@Andrea: how old is your LO? My LO is going through a no nap phase but I put her in bed regardless and strictly enforce quiet time in bed for at least 2 hours. Half the time she falls asleep and half the time she talks to herself/sings/etc. if she sleeps her bedtime is 8:00/8:15 but she takes about an hour to fall asleep (I can hear her talking to herself). If she doesn't sleep during quiet time she gets an early bedtime of 7:00 and she passes out ASAP and sleeps until 7:30/8:00. Sometimes I really enjoy the no nap days bc it means an early bedtime but it makes dinner kind of rushed and my husband doesn't get to spend much time with her

At almost 2 we have only had one day without a nap and that's because we were at the airport waiting for our flight that was delayed for 4 hours. I was surprised he didn't sleep on the plane but he was probably waaay overtired by that point. Otherwise, even though we don't get the longest naps, we've never had a nap refusal.

I may be the lone ranger here in saying that I'm kind of looking forward to no naps. My son sleeps so poorly on-the-go that it will be nice to have a FULL day to do fun things without worrying about being home for his nap.

We dropped naps at 28 months. When he did take a nap, he wouldn't fall asleep until close to 11 and wake up between 6-7. Brutal.

She started fighting them early on.. at 18 months. We gave naps up at 28 months, but sometimes when she's really tired and we're driving, she'll take a car nap.
It doesn't affect her bed time.
