I think it varies so much by kid! My recently turned 3yo is in 2T-3T. Our 2T stuff lasted at least from 2-3, if not longer. But 2T pants are too short now.

I feel like I only got one season out of 2T and 3T. Mine wore 2T from about 18mo to 2 years and then 3T from 2 years to about 2.5 (or a little past that). I go by the growth charts to plan out her future sizes. It looks like she will be in 4T for a whole year going by her growth charts (she has stayed at the same curve since about 6-9mo). I just bought some 4T clothes and some of it she can fit in now (slightly big) and I think she will still be able to wear it next spring/summer. Yay! However, compared to the first year, they definitely slow down at a year, but around 2.5-3 I think they slow down even more. If your child follows a growth curve, just look at that the the clothing sizes (height/weight) to plan it out. I haven't been wrong yet.

DD grew a lot slower after 12 months. She was in 18 mo clothes then, and she is still mostly wearing 18 or 24 mo at 20 mo. She can wear 2T tops/dresses, but pants are too long/lean for her. I am pretty sure she'll barely be 2T through winter, and she might even still be 2T next summer!

@Coffee-lover: whether you are going to buy 2T or 3T fall/winter clothes will depend a lot on your child (is she higher up on the growth charts or is she a petite little thing and typically on the lower end for height/weight). Also, I think the transition from 2T to 3T was the trickiest for us - like she wore 2T for the fall and then I was buying 3T that winter.

As kids get older the gap between clothing sizes gets bigger and so for a while they may be swimming in the next size bc a size down is just too small. Like my LO will be 5 in Novmeber - she wore 5T all last school year and this summer. Her stuff from last year has shrunk from washing and while she can fit into most things they are getting tight and it's time to move up a size. Size 6 is just so huge and it looks so big on her. But that's just the stage we're at and within a few months she'll grow a little more and the clothes will go through so many washes that things will fit her better.

Looking back I think after she turned 3 is when her growth became more predictable. At 3 I bought her all 4T clothes and those lasted all year and when the next fall season arrived I just sized up and that's the way it's been for us since then.

I'd say @ age 1 for my son. He wore 24 month/2T for a couple of seasons...

This is pretty much the first time I have been able to predict DD's size ahead of time and she is 2.5- she wears 4t and has been for a couple of months now. All of her clothes still fit in the waist with some room, but she tends to grow up (if you saw her, you would think she is in kindergarten since she is so tall!!!).

At three I feel like she is slowing down finally. She wore a lot of 4T this summer and I feel find buying it for this fall/winter. 2T and 3T, she wasn't in for very long.

For DS, his growth slowed down considerably right at 1.
For DD, she has been growing pretty steadily since she turned 1 (she's 2.5), so she has been very hard to predict!

DS is also 15 months and has been wearing 2T since spring (with pants rolled up). He sell fits into everything, in fact his waist may have gotten smaller. He did outgrow his 2T pj shirts though. I expect he'll wear 2T for fall and maybe winter.

Once my kids started walking full time, their growth slowed way down. Since then they have mostly grown up instead of out, so clothes last much longer than they did before. They've been in the same size for about a year (more than a year for DD because she really slimmed down). She's just now growing in to some of her 2T and DS is still comfortably in 2T and not close to outgrowing it. They are 2 yr 3 m now.

Hmm, I can't pinpoint the exact months but I know DD was able to wear 2T for a long time (past age 3). I guess it depends on body type but I'd do 2T.

So I keep seeing cute fall/winter outfits, but it's hot until November where I live. My daughter is 15 months and just fitting into 2t clothes. I am wondering if I should get 2t or 3t size?

I know babies growth slows down at some point, but when? How old was your baby/toddler when their growth started slowing down?
