My pediatrician said to give her a sippy at 4 months so she can get used to holding it.
At 9 months M still doesn't take one. :P she only drinks breast milk from my boobs!

My pedi told me my son was allowed to have up to 1 cup of water per day at his 6 month appointment for practice with a sippy.

you can introduce a sippy cup of water at 6 months. i think breastmilk would be too precious!

i found charlie couldn't really hold the sippy cup well until he was a couple of months older, and even then the straw cups were easier for him.

LO is 5 months old and we won't be starting solids until she is 6 months. However, I want to try and start practicing using a sippy cup (either soon or when we start solids, doesn't matter). I'm wondering what to practice with. Pumped milk (isn't it a bit of a waste to pour liquid gold into a sippy cup only to have it spat out or not used)? Water? Do babies need water? Is it too early to use a sippy cup?
