@MrsKoala: no other symptoms. I took her in today because her temp went up to 104.2 last night and I wanted to be safe. She has an ear infection but not sure if anything else is accompanying it. She is miserable and she's had ear infections before that I didn't even know about.

Fevers always worry me but I am a worrier. My LO recently was spiking fevers up to 104 for 4 days before our ped caught that it was an ear infection. He was so lethargic and scared me to death. She said to always treat the child not the number and this has really stuck with me.

I worry when it's 101-or higher. I would do Tylenol and then watch it. If it doesn't improve or LO's behavior improve, then we go to the doctor.

LO was sick for a couple of weeks. We did the Tylenol for awhile. When he coughed so bad one night, I stayed home with him. When he couldn't sleep for bed and nap, we went in. He's just finishing up antibiotics right now.

102/103 is my worry temp; but if it goes down with Tylenol, then I'm okay doing it for two days until I start to worry again. Also, if he's eating normal and acting normal that's a good sign. Hope your LO feels better soon!

I would give Tylenol about 102 and would start to get worried around 103. Does she have any symptoms? My LO had roseola a couple weeks ago (around 1 year of age) and his only symptom was the high fever and then the rash when it broke.

If it's just a fever with no other symptoms, I worry if it is over 104, doesn't respond to medicine, or sticks around more than 2 days.

Someone posted this awhile back and I've found it to be really useful.

Assuming nothing else is wrong, I would give meds at 102. If it was higher than that, I would only really worry if it didn't come down with meds.

My LO has a tendency to get high fevers, and the pediatrician always says it matters more how they are acting than how high the number is (obviously within reason). He had the flu in January and was up to 104.5 but running around like his normal self, just with flushed cheeks. I would definitely give her some Motrin or Tylenol though to bring it down a bit.

I feel like we have had a ton of fever before...a sudden spike concerns me or anything that doesn't respond to Motrin/Tylenol alternating.

Fever is scary, but it's the body's response to fighting infection.

My lo gets high fevers a lot. Anything above 103 worries me but if she acts normally then i feel ok about it. More than 4 days would also worry me.

Anything above 102 is concerning, and I will treat with Motrin. If it doesn't respond within 30 minutes, I would call my doc or so urgent care. Our LO was hovering at 103/104 back in January, and it turned out to be the flu. Not much to do other than treat the discomfort. Medicine can work wonders. Good luck to you guys!!

It depends on how old is your LO? My son is now older (3 years old) and I don't blink if I see 102.5 - anything above 103 I do call the nurse line though. When he was a baby, man, I freak out if I read 100 lol

Anything over 102 worries me and warrants giving ibroprofen . If it doesn't reduce within an hour or two after medicine, I usually think about urgent care...but I'm a worrier.

My 1 year old has a fever of 103.9, I have never dealt with a fever before so it worries me a bit. She nursed ok so I'm taking that as a good sign. She has not been herself today though. At what point do fevers worry you? What do you do for them?
