L&D was a breeze to me as compared to 9 months of pregnancy and the first couple months of caring for a newborn. But just now at 4.5 months I have done a 180 from being scared of going through the newborn stage again to having a bit of baby fever (mainly influenced by the fact that I can't believe how big my girl is getting!).

My labor was not too difficult (I'd rather go through L&D again than pregnancy) and I "forgot" almost immediately after I was healed from it all - so probably 8 weeks or so? Yeah... the healing was pretty awful, in my opinion. But back to your question, I'm 11 months postpartum and sometimes when I think about the birth it seems like it happened to someone else. Really weird.

I just hope I don't have to push SO long next time, but a couple of days later, I thought "that's not so bad". PLUS, I feel like I know what to watch out for: I went from a 4.5 to a 9 in 80 min. Next time, I want the epidural EARLY. I think the frustration of a new baby will wear me down more

I was super sore after L&D but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I can imagine going through that again (I'm 5 weeks out) but the thought of another first trimester horrifies me!

i'm 5.5 months pp and I can barely remember labor! I think it's so bizarre -- I actually wish I could remember it better. I had a long 23 hr labor, 5 hrs of pushing and a tear, but I actually felt really good about it. I was healed after about 3 weeks I would say and I kept trying to hold on to the memory of labor - I was SO proud of myself, I honestly didn't think I'd be able to get through it and I still marvel at the fact that I did.

Like so many other posters said - time makes the memory fade.

I would say about 4 weeks PP, I was healed, now even though it was rough and ended in emergency c-section I can't wait for number two, although I know going into it that I can schedule my due date since I will be having another c-section.

I pushed for two hours, had an episiotomy, and wanted to die on the bed because I thought the pressure/pain was so bad.

Clearly it wasn't because my PP healing process/recovery was quick and I was ok with talking about future kid(s) in month 2.

I'm 20 weeks pp now and we're already making tenative time plans for LO#2. Time is def a healer. :P

My labor wasn't too bad even though it lasted 32 hours. Water broke prematurely and had to be induced. I had an epidural for most of it, just felt buzzing down there. Ds was small so I didn't tear at all and was pretty much back to my norm within the hour. The nurses freaked out when they saw me walking around 30 mins after delivery.

I'd say by a few months pp I forgot. My husband constantly reminds me of the pain, etc. that he witnessed. My labor and delivery was pretty straightforward too, about 14 hours total. I can definitely see doing it again. Part of it was that I wasn't afraid of the labor part. For some reason, I was completely relaxed about that part of it mentally before it started. I was in pain and wanted the pain managed, but I knew the goal, etc., so I wasn't hung up on it during my pregnancy.

I remember everything...my labor was a nightmare. Not sure I'll ever forget this one. I forgot pretty quickly with DS.

BUT only after a few days I thought I'd be willing to try again for another baby. It's worth it.

Mine was pretty horrific, 18 hour unpainmedicated labor then an emergency c section with hemmoraging and baby being taken from me as I was too sick to care for him.

I haven't forgotten labor for sure, but after about a month with my lovely new baby I was super excited to start trying for #2. That was the point where baby fever made me less fearful about my labor experience.

I had a relatively easy l&d with an amazing epidural... worst part was having to be catheterized after the epidural wore off, and postpartum complications and surgical stitch repair. I still remember all of it, but was ready to contemplate doing it again at about 3 months PP :)

@mediagirl: ah, the pushing on the belly was the worst! I mean, it was all hard, but I knew I was working towards a goal (getting the baby out), so I did what I had to do. After the baby came out, I was so relieved! So when they started pressing on my stomach, it was just more than I could take. I kept involuntarily grabbing the nurse's hands, telling her to stop. Whoops...

I consider my all-natural l&d pretty traumatic, and I had a really difficult pp recovery, too (couldn't walk unassisted for over a week). But at 10 weeks pp, I think I'm pretty much over it. I think just seeing how much my body has healed in 10 weeks is really surprising and encouraging to me. I thought I'd be using a walker for months!

I forgot most of it pretty quickly. I don't think I'll ever forget the catheter or them pushing on my belly, though.

I think about it like this - labor and delivery is a very short time compared to how long you get to spend with that little, amazing human being that you grew and delivered.

It's faded over time for me (7.5 months PP), but I still think about it from time to time. I had a rough delivery which resulted in an emergency c-section with a failed epidural, so it was pretty traumatic for me.

I'm looking forward to L&D again, but not morning sickness. I remember exactly what that was like. The memories of L&D are a little fuzzy, but overall I loved it and felt SO accomplished afterwards. I jokingly commented to DH, "Clearly no one else has ever had a baby before because they would have told me how awesome it is!" I really felt that way, though. I could do without some of the postpartum surprises.

I handled labor and delivery pretty well and went into a zone. I said I could totally do it again right after I gave birth. Now, at nearly a year PP, I actually WANT to do it again. Mostly because I want to have that experience again and am really longing for her to have a sibling. Plus, I feel like giving birth was just something I was good at (as silly as that sounds!).

My labor and delivery was relatively easy. I think it was about 10 minutes after lo being born I thought "that wasn't so bad, I could do that again" but an hour earlier I was saying I would never do it again and it was pure torture. I forgot how painful it was as soon as she was born. I'm not scared about labor/delivery again, I'm more worried about the fatigue and morning sickness the next time since it was horrible the first time.

I was pretty traumatized (long, unmedicated labor and birth) for 6 or 8 weeks and then I was like wow, that was hard, but look what I did!!!! I DID IT!!! And that outweighed the trauma, lol. By the time I did it again 26 months later, I still remembered, but it had definitely faded and I was reminded again of just how hard it was, but by the next day was like, yeah, I'm crazy, but hell yeah I'll do it again! And now, 26 months after that birth, the memory of the exact intensity has definitely faded, although as I look ahead to doing it again in 7 months or so, the thought of the incredibly hard work of labor makes me tired just thinking about it, but I'll be ready when the time comes.
