DH and I were trying for a second baby when I got a job offer for a new job in a new city (I was also a teacher). I got pregnant and was due in March of the new school year. It would have been awesome, except that I wasn't offered FMLA because I hadn't been there a year. That means that I had to go back after 8 weeks (due to a c-section), not 12 weeks. If I had been allowed the 12 weeks that would have put me going back to work the following school year, but they wouldn't let me. I really wish we had waited longer, because I ended up having to quit. I didn't want to put my 8 week old in daycare if I didn't have to.

I think that since you are a teacher, trying to have a baby during the March/April/May months are ideal and if you can wait till then, that would be fantastic!

My husband forgot the condoms. We were celebrating our anniversary. Had a few too many drinks and went for it. By the time we sobered up and realized we should try to plan and think it through I was pregnant!

Go for it!!! Good luck!! Everyone told me the same thing. If you wait till your ready, you will never be ready!

If you both have baby fever, you're ready!! You will NEVER be financially secure enough. Your work schedule will NEVER be exactly right. You will NEVER be really ready. All you need is to want to make it work and to want to bring a life - your own child - into this world and the rest falls into its imperfect but just-as-its-meant-to-be place.

I say pull the plug and see what happens! But I always was a bad influence.....!

We decided, last year, to wait until this summer for various reasons. I spent a good portion of the year freaking out and thinking I wasn't ready as a result! The time has come to start trying and while I think you're never 100% we're both really excited for this new phase in our lives. In the end, I'm glad we had this last year to really prepare and dream about what lies ahead

I honestly don't ever think the thoughts of having a baby don't seem scary. If I let myself think about it too much, I freaked out. I remember telling DH, "I'm just going to have to stop taking my pill and let whatever happens happen, and trust that it will all work out". And I admit, when I saw the positive on the preg test, a small part of me though "what the hell did we do?!" And we wholeheartedly 100% wanted to be parents. It's just scary venturing into the unknown!

Work was a big factor for me. I wanted/needed to be at my job for a long enough time before starting to try.

when it is time to finally pull the plug?!?!?!
Both my DH and I have crazy baby fever. We have said that the earliest we would start is the new year, so that I can teach at least a full year in my new classroom and new school. We just moved into a new house, and know that making babies are the next step.....
I know that you never know how long it will take etc. But it is freaking me out!!!! That makes me think that I am not ready!!! ah!
sorry, end rant.
