@BananaPancakes: lol no I'm sorry! I actually had a specific thought in mind when writing this and didn't realize some people would have just done the booster from the start.

See, my inlaws have a high chair at their house. They don't think the booster seat is "safe" enough yet. So I figured I'd just ask around and see when people moved out. I'm not worried about the safety of it all (M was in a booster for a while right off the bat till we got a high chair) I just want to figure out how to convince MIL that a booster is enough. :)

My LO is only 11 months and she was already trying to climb out of her Tripp Trapp with the infant attachment! So we've gone ahead and removed the infant attachment (but it still has the straps attached) and she sits much more still and calm while she eats. I'm guessing somewhere around two we'll go ahead and remove the straps? Whenever I feel confident that she's physically capable and mentally understands how to climb up and down. The footrest on the Tripp Trapp makes it easier to do that. I expect her to be in the Tripp Trapp for a long time. You can just keep lowering the seat as she gets bigger and it essentially operates like a regular chair.

@mediagirl: Whoops sorry about that. I guess in my mind I didn't realize that there would be a difference in moving your LO to a booster, since we never used a high chair and it wasn't an issue. I was thinking, "oh it's no big deal, just stick her in it," but I see (from some of the responses) that there might be a learning curve for some babes. :)

@mediagirl: I switched her at 17 months when I got fed up with our fabric covered high chair. She took to it right away! I think she was around 23 lbs?

I have this one and we love it.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: interesting. We have a climbing out of the chair problem, too. I'm considering moving to the booster just to see what her response is if she's sitting at the big table with us...

@mediagirl: W has strarted refusing to sit in her high chair (she climbs out, even when it is buckled), so we have started taking her tray off and pushing the chair up to the table. When she eats with us at the table, she doesn't climb out. Also, last week at dinner at a pizza place, she sat in a booster at the booth rather than a high chair for the first time and it worked well. I think she wants to feel like a big kid.

I moved my daughter to a booster when she was a little over 2. I don't know if that is early or late, but it worked. Got her a pink princess booster seat and she was good to go.

@mediagirl: It was terrible, I will not lie to you.

We tried everything out there to make him sit in a booster. I must have ordered and sent back at least 3 models. He would cry and fuss and it wasn't what I had envisioned. Now he sits at the table, he's not nearly tall enough, but I am okay with it because we have a bench in our kitchen (think diner booth) and it is perfect with the height of our 1950's table.

We used the high chair until about age 2, now we just use a regular chair. My son will not accept a booster of any kind.

The one I wanted to use really badly was the kaboost, it raises the entire chair.
