I have no idea. We are also city dwellers with no car, so I can't exactly go buy groceries and carry them and corral a baby/toddler. DS is 3.5 and rides the boogie board on the stroller, and sometimes even rides in it if we are wearing DD. I would guess we will use the stroller until my youngest is 4?

I've never really used our stroller except for jogging, but I imagine I'll use one more as DS gets heavier. I'm guessing it will be case by case depending on the situation!

Not for a long time.
We babywear every day, but I can't carry groceries and 30ish pounds of baby at the same time.

We are plan on having another child, so we will probably get a stroller with a boogie board so that LO can hop on when she's tired of walking.

We've retired the carrier, LO only likes it when she's tired. Can't go strollerless in the city unless I'm just walking around the neighborhood.

@californiadreams: What kind of carrier was it? A structured carrier with metal pieces has to come off, but wraps are fine. I've never been asked to take her out if the wrap and I've had her in it through security at least four times that I can remember.

That stinks that they woke baby up!

We'll probably hold onto the stroller until DD is pretty good with a bike, tricycle, or scooter. We already use the push tricycle for a lot of outings around the neighborhood. DD still prefers for us to push her, but at some point she will learn to pedal by herself.

@Arden: i do hope with my next baby to be more adept at babywearing, but i like being prepared and having on hand anything i might need! and i don't like carrying bags on my shoulder.

I went through security with LO in the carrier and he was asleep (at 5 months old) and the security officer made me take him out to walk through. Of course it woke LO, i was so pissed!

@californiadreams: I'm kind of a minimalist so I usually don't have a lot to carry. :P I wear her on my back for long outings (or DH wears her more often) and carry a cross body diaper bag with the bare minimums.

When we fly it's extra awesome because I just pull a rolling suitcase and don't even have to take her out of the carrier to go through security (they just swab my hands). Much easier than folding and unfolding a stroller a bajillion times. :P

@Arden: i love the idea of babywearing over strollers for a lot of situations, but what about when you are out for the whole day and have a lot of stuff to carry? I often used my stroller as a cart for my stuff and wore LO while I pushed the stroller around.

@mrbee: I have no plans to retire the stroller anytime soon, but our LO is only 22 months.

It's so hard to predict but I suspect it will be one the later end of the spectrum. We live in a very walkable neighborhood and about half of our usual destinations are about a mile each way. At some point they will be able to handle that on a bike but a stroller will make things like trips to the library, grocery store and farmers market a lot easier. I sort of dread the day that bringing a stroller on those types of trips is no longer reasonable! I would guess that at that point we will invest in bikes with decent baskets or panniers.

We retired it at nine months when we bought our first wrap... so much easier to lug around! ;)

We aren't going to bother with a stroller for the next baby. I hate loading and unloading and having to carry it up stairs and going through narrow aisles... meh.

Our kids are almost 3 and almost 5, but they're still going strong in the double stroller. I'd love to retire it, but we walked 6 miles this morning! We live in the city and can't really go on epic trips without a stroller, at least until the kids are a bit older.

Still, I don't think we can use a stroller for that much longer... just pushing it around the city is getting to be a tough workout as they get bigger! So maybe we have another year or so before we retire it completely.

When do you plan on retiring the stroller?
