I always just put it in a bowl of warm water to thaw as needed. It took like 3 minutes to thaw

@Revel: Yeah, I would either take it out sooner so you can do your portioning OR portion it out in the morning if you have the time! :)

@locavore_mama: That's what I figured most did, thanks

@autumnlove: Water is a good tip, I will try that if they're still slushy at the end of the night.

@Adira: Makes sense about the 24 hour rule, I can probably pull it to the fridge a little sooner to thaw because she takes her last bottle around 3:30 at daycare.

I've heard that the 24-hour rule is for AFTER they are thawed. Some people's milk (depending on how much is frozen) might take 24 hours just to thaw, and then presumably you have 24 hours to use it.

I freeze mine in 2 oz increments, so I put it in the fridge around 7:00 p.m. the night before and I portion it out at 5:00 a.m. in the morning. It's completely thawed by then for me. But if you freeze in larger increments, it will take longer to thaw!

I thaw them in cool water the night before she drinks them at daycare...still within 24 hours!

So as some of you do, I freeze all of my pumped milk on Friday and send the oldest frozen on Monday to rotate through what's in the freezer (I think I picked that tip up here, so thanks HB!).

I prep LO's Monday bottles on Sunday evening. When should I be pulling the milk out to thaw? I have been putting it in the fridge at around noon on Sunday, but then it's still slushy and tough to portion out when I make the bottles around nine at night

The obvious answer is to put it in the fridge sooner, but I was wondering how the use-frozen-within-24-hours rule fits in here.

So, possibly overthinking all this, but when do you pull your milk to thaw?
